I looked through Snopes with no luck, any idea what is going on here? This doesn't seem like your average Nigerian scam or Spam. If it's a joke, I don't think it's very funny either.:fire:
 
Wow. I don't know how I'd react to that.

My only guess is that you were visiting some website that acquired your email address. I'm pretty ignorant here, but maybe take some steps to beef up your internet security. Run Ad-Aware, SpyBot, maybe switch to Firefox browser, get a firewall, I don't know.

Another possibility would be to call the police or someone and tell them what happened. I don't know if I'd do that or not, but I'd at least think about it.
 
It's definitely a joke. If they were for real I doubt that these people would be anything less than completely selective about who they offer their services to, and especially not to go so far as to advertise via email to Americans with no terrorist connections. Besides, they don't consider themselves terrorists and would not refer to themselves as such. As for the fact that it's not funny, well, there's no accounting for taste.
 
Maybe this info will help with figuring out who these people are. I would try to contact a local field agent (FBI) and give them a copy of that email you posted along with the below info I dug up. Tell them that it may be some sort of joke, but with the way things are today it is not a very funny one and we all need to do our part in "homeland security"

I've recommended Shadowcrew.com as a place to ferret out really hardcore info about alternate ID. Yes, we'll trade in banned goods. Yes, we'll used forged IDs or "real" IDs that are illegally obtained. Yes, we'll do our banking privately, without Mr. Ashcroft's successors peeking over our shoulders. Yes, we'll smuggle. Yes, we'll hide fugitives. We'll do it all someday, when things get that bad and America resembles Everyday Stalinism. But we nice, mostly middle-class, mostly college-educated, mostly hyper-ethical fireflies don't like to think that criminals (not just romantic Outlaws) are the folks who do such things best.

Criminals have the skill, the experience, the ruthlessness, the connections, the amorality, and the will to do some of the "noble" things we fantacize about doing in the name of freedom.

We may start out with some clean, noble freedom black markets -- and we may even preserve a few of them on a small scale. But just as in Russia (or Chicago of the 1920s), once you force ordinary trade and ordinary life activities underground, you get ruthless criminal syndicates. Too many noblehearts will get quickly busted. Or driven out by fiercer competitors.

Shadowcrew is a tiny taste of what we're eventually going to have to live with if we fireflies are forced to fly in underground caverns beneath a lost and corrupted America. It ain't pretty. But it's still better than submitting to the omnimptent Big Nanny state.

Don't think for a minute that if something bad happens the feds will ignore you. You will receive their tender loving mercies and during the investigation you are the one with the problem, not them.

If the federales are trolling what better was to re-insert their labors bristles first.
 
Somehow I wonder how a group that is involved in ID and credit card fraud were smart enough to get their hands on that kind of ordinance and yet dumb enough to send out an email advertising it. :scrutiny:
 
Don't knock the geeks that do carding and ID fraud.

They usually have well stocked houses with good electronic gear, poor home security, and no guns. If they do have guns, they're not good at them. Best yet, they'd be scared to go to the cops over anything.

Think of them as 'outlaws'- you can do pretty much whatever you want to those people once you gain their trust, track them down, and they don't know who they are, short of physical damage to their bodies (at that point they're likely to figure going to jail for their activities is worth going to the cops for protection).

I'm not encouraging criminal acts. I don't commit criminal acts.

I'm just sayin'. If I were a predator, they'd be the perfect prey.

Ok seriously. I am pretty sure this is a joke e-mail. I would have laughed, then deleted it.

My guess is it's not from SC but it's someone setting them up to look bad.

Identity theives, carders, and zombie kids all swim in basically the same stinky ocean, and it's a culture of backstabbing and infighting.
