Does anywhere have AR15s in stock?

I am wanting to pick up an AR15, but unfortunately it seems that I have bad timing. I can't find anywhere that has any in stock. Does anyone know of anywhere that has AR15s in stock? I checked Delton, PSA, Buds Gun shop and AIM Surplus but non of them had any in stock. The rifle will just be a range toy, so I'm trying to stay on the fairly inexpensive end. My original plan was to buy a lower receiver and a parts kit from Delton or PSA. A rifle or kit like the below two would be what I have in mind.

    Thanks for any help

good luck...gunbroker is probably the only place you will find them...and the "fairly inexpensive end" is probably about $1500 right now.

Your best be right now is from a private owner. Try armslist and expect to pay double retail value.

My LGS here had a rack full as of Thursday with more in the vault. The owner has been stockpiling them for the last 4 years. I don't think he bothered marking them up because his prices are silly to begin with.

damn, I have bad timing. I guess I'll be waiting until prices come down and availability goes up. I was thinking about buying one a year ago, prices were pretty reasonable then. I could have had one together for under $700.

if I can get my hands on a lower is there anywhere that has assembled uppers in stock that aren't crazy expensive?

Larry's Pistol & Pawn here in Huntsville has rifles. A friend of mine picked up two today.

The LGS/indoor range had a full rack of guns 2 weeks ago and plenty of ARs to choose from. Yesterday every last AR was gone, and the indoor range was slammed with people shooting their xmas gifts with family.

Unfortunately, the demand and price gouging probably won't let off until the legislation resolves.

Whittakers in Western Kentucky has been getting shipments regularly and selling out daily. They are on facebook and posts what they expect to get, what they get, and how they will sell them.

I have a friend that has a few stripped lowers sitting around, so if I can find a kit I can probably convince him to sell me a lower

Why now? If you are just wanting to get on the band wagon with everyone else, then you will be paying what everyone else is.
You waited till now, so pay a little more. So what? I still see lots of AR's on Gunbroker and local stores for about $1k, some less. Lowers are $200-$400 + a budget upper. It's not that bad. They are still out there, just a little more.

If you're waiting till they come back to $700, forget it. I can't buy a candy bar for what it was just 3 years ago.

Your best bet is either going to be local private sale with people that don't want to hassle with shipping (check state and regional gun messge board classifieds), or alternatively the big chain stores that may have some in the allocation pipeline. Based on message on a local gun message board, a Wal-Mart about 90 miles from here received 6-8 low end AR's in on Friday, and sold out in about 4 hours, limit 2 per customer.

p.s. One more note, the nice AR's are often only selling for a couple of hundred more than the cheap ones, in other words those low end AR's there were $699 a few weeks ago are now selling for $1,500 and those higher end that were selling for around $1,200 are now sellling for around $1,700 - 1,800, in fact I juse spotted a local ad for a nice build featuring rock river lower, free floating 1/7 twist barrel, flip up BUIS, etc. for $1,500

I think I may have offended a dealer today when I laught out load and told someone standing next to me today that $2500 for a plain jane colt 6920 was an insult. What a price whore!!! To anyone selling firearms, have some self respect, folks will remember who was standing tall and being honest if and when this mess blows by. Why piss off the ones who pay your bills.

Oh, they're out there. Saw plenty at a gun show this weekend...if you like starting at double MSRP and going up from there.

Can't wait for this bubble to burst....

The gunshow in Columbus was just as bad.

It was quite funny to see the price tags:

you could see the original ink $599.00 and then there was a 1 placed between the $ and the 5 to make it $1599.00. the ink was a different color or simply squished in there. Several people commented and pointed it out...

Also, another table had maybe 40 Base movel AR's with various small features, carry handle, etc. Each was $1499.95.

At the end of the day it looks like he only sold maybe 6 or 8 of them.

Now the Person selling the AR parts, kits, uppers, etc. Line at the table when doors opened, sold out of uppers by the end of the day.

One local store sold every flavor of AR he had in stock, 635 of them the day after Obama's announcement of the Biden task force. He did change his prices from a discount to full MSRP which may be considered opportunistic but certainly not gouging. That was over $1M in sales in one day for a single, local store.

Another small dealer in town has stockpiled over 500 AR's and SCAR's and is selling them on gunbroker 10 at a time at auction and is getting between $2000 and $4000 per gun!

It's insane but I can't blame the dealers, it's supply and demand and as long as idiots are willing to pay $1500+ for stripper M&P sport type AR's (a $600 gun at best) then more power to the dealers.
