Ok, so I wander out to Gander Mountain in Illinois today with my 2 year old as mommy is out and about just for a look around... Maybe going to buy a Bersa Thunder or a Taurus PT-92 as I know they are fairly cheap...

Anyway, I stick the local gun shop's ad paper in my pocket and off I go...

Go there and see a well handled NIB Blued P-232 for $459.99...

I look at my little flyer and the local shop has it on sale for 439.99..,. a 20.00 difference... Thanks to Gander Mountains double to difference policy that is 40.00 off...

So now it is a 419.99 P-232.... Then I see Gander Mountain's ad... 10& off any firearm with a Gander Mountain Card... Well damn, sign me up... So that is 377.91 and I ask him if he has one in the back that has not been on display... Out comes a brand new one in the plastic covered in grease....

Write it up I say... And out the door I went with my NIB Never Touched P-232 for $377.91

Deal? Yeah or Neah????

You thoughts?

Now buy a Mak with the money you saved and take them both to the range the same day. ;)

Why would I buy a Mak and take it to the range on the same day...

No offense to you or the Mak, but that would be like dragging your 80 year old neighbor (well known, dependable, and makes a good perogi) with you to the Prom when your date is Heather Locklear or <Insert Hottie of you choice> (smooth, refined, and damn good looking).... :neener:

Hey I was just kidding about the Mak... no need to ignore the post...

I am looking for a decent concealment holster for my new toy...

.380 is better than throwing rocks. I think you got a great deal.

But where's the rest of your Jefferson quote? You haven't posted the whole thing.

I wasn't ignoring it--just slow to get around to it.

Actually, I was being a little snide when I made the remark.

Your post reminded me of a friend who bought a P232. It happened that he came upon a deal for an E. German Mak about the same time--great condition for about $150. He took them both to the range the same day--BIG mistake!

Let's just say that he was VERY happy with his Mak at the end of the day...

Congrats on your deal, yes it's a deal! There's one at my local Gun shop for $419.00 but I want a full stainless one. It's probably one of the sexiest pistols on the market and IMO a .380, although no Casull, is fully capable of handling most situations and is a heck of a fun caliber to plink and shoot with, especially in that sexy thing. And, it's not all just looks, that thing has a great feel!

Enjoy and please tell all about it after you fire a box or two. :)

Did you get a gun you liked? YES
Are you happy? YES

However, I always feel that way after I buy a gun... It is only later, when I find out that I could have saved some money that I get really angry....

:cuss:

This is my sanity check... that is all...

I think I got a good deal. I bought a stainless P232SL with wraparound grip and tritium night sights, $500 out the door, no tax.

There's a dealer at our local monthly gun show who has a huge booth. Prices are great and if you have cash, he waives the sales tax.

My only complaints about this gun are that the hammer, decock lever, grip screws and breakdown lever are not stainless, and have suffered visible wear and discoloration in the five months I've had the pistol. However, I know that with a CCW pistol you can't expect it to stay perfect.

Around here - a NIB Sig 232 for under $400 is a good deal. To my way of thinking - the Sig P232 is the only .380 worth owning at any price. So it's a VERY GOOD DEAL.

I think you are going to be very satisfied with it.

It is only later, when I find out that I could have saved some money that I get really angry....

I understand that, but as long as you are happy with the gun, it doesn't really matter. I am sure if you looked long enough and hard enough you could have found one cheaper, but you got one you liked for a fair price. I get that way sometimes, but mostly I just have too much fun playing with my new toy to worry about it.

:)

I wouldn't buy one for that price. I'd rather have a 9mm. But if
you are happy, who cares what other people think?

In 2004 I would have said; "Wow, great deal. Enjoy your P232... it's a great gun."

In 2011 I would say; "Wow, great deal. Enjoy your P232... it's a great gun."
;)

It is only later, when I find out that I could have saved some money that I get really angry....
...and feel like selling it?

Since you already told me what you paid, I'll offer $399 if and when you get angry enough. :)

Lesson 1. Be Happy and never look back

Lesson 2. Don't tell anyone what you paid.

Congrats on super deal!
