Easily ncreasing mag capacity possible?

Some of the (otherwise fine) rifles in common calibers seem to only come with silly tiny mags (4-5 rounds). I am thinking that buying a standard mag for a different rifle in the same caliber and welding the two together could be a cheap way of creating custom higher capacity mags.

For example, a Remington 7600 in 308 has a tiny mag. However, the H&K 91 308 mags are dirt-cheap and cutting the bottom off the 7600 mag and top off the H&K 91 and then welding them together seems like a bit messy but not too bad and should in theory produce a usable 7600 mag.... I've seen pics posted on THR of entire mags made from scratch from computer cases, so this shouldn't be nearly as bad.

Is this feasible? Has anyone tried?
