Since there is so much knowledge on here i have a question. What would be a good load to use for just target range practice. nothing fancy just a reliable load in my 40 S&W and 9mm

Ingredients?

IMHO any reloading manual and several powder manufacturer websites will contain the mountain of various loads depending on bullet and powder used for those calibers.

Stay in the lower ranges of the data supplied and verify at the range that they cycle in your particular firearm. Adjust the next batch accordingly.

My reference guns are G22/G27 with stock/Lone Wolf replacement/9mm conversion barrels for these target loads (currently Winchester 231 and Hodgdon HP38 are the same powder formulation):

9mm:
115 FMJ - 4.9 grain Winchester 231/Hodgdon HP38, 1.125" OAL (4.7 will work fine in G17)
125 Lead - 4.3 grain Winchester 231/Hodgdon HP38, 1.12" OAL

40S&W:
155 FMJ - 4.9 grain Winchester 231/Hodgdon HP38, 1.125" OAL
180 Lead - 4.3 grain Winchester 231/Hodgdon HP38, 1.125" OAL

A 121 grain cast TC with 4.5 grains of Bullseye is a fairly good 9mm load.
"...lower ranges of the data supplied..." Doesn't mean they'll be accurate.
