Glock 23 C vs Glock 30

I put one of my 9mm on consignment and as soon as it sells (fingers crossed). I plan on buying my first Glock. (30) That was until today when I shot a friends Glock 23c.

This gun was simply amazing. I was dead on putting bullets one on top of the other. I loved the way it fit and fired.

My question is this.

Will the Glock 30 perform similarly or does the integrated compensator vents on the C model make that big of a difference?

I really want a .45 acp but after shooting this 40, I am seriously conflicted

Another factor I need to consider is the cost of ammo? I need to see how much more .45 acp ammo is compared to the 40.

Anybody shot both of these guns and if so, how did they compare?

Get the regular 23. You will not regret it, it is the best selling Glock for a reason.

did some research at it seems like the G23c has some serious muzzle flash in low light conditions? The G30 has less recoil and muzzle lift than the regular G23. I cant get over how awesome the G23c was at the range. Hopefully the G30 will perform similarly.

Looks like I am back to where I started. I really want a .45 and the G30 seems to be an incredible gun.

I haven't shot a G-30 but the 23 I shot was accurate & handled really well. The low bore axis really does make them easy to shoot.

I have both and if I had to choose one I'd get the 30. the 23C is a good gun but the .45 is the round for me. IF you plan on carrying it concealed, however, get the 23. The 30 is quite thick. Haven't shot it in low light but I have had several people shoot a
g22 back to back with the 23C and every one of them liked the 23C a lot better.

The 30 has more recoil but it feels less sharp. to me. Both shoot quite well.

I was thinking it would be more of a nightstand gun at the house but the specs tell me it is thinner than my cc PO1. I guess when they talk about thickness, they are referring to the width of the barrel and not the thickness or width of the grip? I can see the G30 grip being thicker than my CZ. My CZ isnt tiny but it cc decent at 4 oclock.

Glock width is pretty monolithic, where the CZ is giving you width at the widest point. Glocks are pretty straight sided.

Can this gun be CC with an IWB holster?

btw...i noticed that the Glock website does not differentiate between G30 and G30sf. Will I need to specify that I want the SF version or is that all they come in now?

GLOCK is way behind on their website (which sux BTW) I'm also considering a 30SF as I'm IN LOVE with my 21SF now...I played with a 36 this weekend and and 27 and I think the 30SF will be the one I end up getting to match it...It's a whole lotta smackdown in a trusted platform.

that is way overblown. My 23 C is used in low light qualification with no problem. Even in the handgun retention phase of the course the C does not offer any problems.

yeah, I have had time to do some research on this and I think you are right. The whole, you might get burned, blinded, and blown up is greatly exaggerated.

I do know this...the 23c was the first glock I have ever handled and shot. The gun was simply amazing. The thing that gets me excited is I have read countless threads that claim that the G30 might be the most accurate of all of the glocks.

I have made my mind up...I am going with the G30. I wanted a .45 acp next and the G30 is the most affordable .45 for what you get.

I stopped by the largest gun store in Texas (Houston) and held just about every Glock made. I was able to compare to XD, H&K, M&P, Sig 22O compact and I am convinced that the Glock 30 is the best value for my buck. Don't get me wrong, all the guns I listed were awesome as well, but with the exception of the XD .45, all of the others were out of my price range.

I have glock fever real bad and I can see myself eventually getting a G19 as well as a 23c.

sold my cougar today...my gun store was supposed to get a G30 in Monday and it hasnt arrived yet. As soon as it gets in...I will go pick up my first Glock! Pretty Stoked

I got a Glock 30SF. Freaking awesome weapon. Reliable, incredibly accurate, and good round. It fits my hand like a glove. It can take the 21 mags. I got mine with the night sites. I put rounds on top of rounds at 25 yards with ease. Recoil was comprable to a 9mm. I shot a Beretta 96 Brigadier in .40SW and it recoiled a heck of a lot more than the Glock 30.

picked my G30sf up today! Great price of 509.00 plus tax. I can't wait to shoot it.

I am going to need to pick up a holster. I dont think I will consider anything other than a IWB clip on. Does anybody have any suggestions for one. I have fist #6 for my CZ. It is a very nice holster but I was wondering if anyone has a IWB clip on that they swear by?

Either would be fine. I know this doesn't help, but I love glocks. If I had the money, I'd have at least one of every Glock manufactured (aside from the G18, of course).

The Glock Model 19 is the best selling Glock model to date followed by the G26.

23/22/19/17 In that order. At least it was the last time I heard. Numbers do change quickly. I highly doubt the 26 is in the top 3.

Its been mentioned quite often by many that the G30 is the most accurate Glock made. I can attest to that statement. I had a .40 once and got rid of it cuz the cartridge is not accurate due to its high finicky pressure. To me the recoil of the 40 seems greater than a 45, if not much more snappy. I see no benefit in getting a 40 over a 45 unless you are a poor shot and need high capacity mags. Just because most police units use the 40 cal doesnt mean its superior. I suspect they require high capacity given the nature of their duty and that many officers arent experts of accuracy under stress.

I was in the market for a G30, after shooting a rental, I loved it and had a serious .45 bug.... I looked all over but for some reason none of the shops had one in stock. After a few weeks of waiting I ended up getting a G23. The 23 really impressed me(and was my first owned Glock), it was, hands down, the best shooting .40 I've shot. I had no intention of getting rid of it ever.....Until two weeks ago when I saw a G30 for sale on a local forum. It had ~300rounds use and a set of Truglo hybrid NS, nice. Half a joke I offered the 23 in trade. Well it was accepted. He wanted the 23 to tinker with and I really wanted a 30.
I am happy with the trade, love shooting the G30, the Truglo sights are fantastic..
The Glock 23 is an awesome weapon, IMO the only hand gun I find better is the G30..

congrats on your G30. One of the reasons I went with 9mm as my first purchase was ammo accessability and pricing. I was nervous about the cost of .45 acp ammo. I just got back from walmart 15 minutes ago and picked up federal 230 gr. FMJ for 15.95 a box. (They had tons of 9, 40, and 45)

I usually pay 11 to 12 bucks for 9mm practice ammo. I use the same winchester supreme elite bonded in my 9 & 45 and they cost the same per 20 count box. I am very pleased to see that shooting my G30 is not going to be much more than my CZ.

My first glock was a G23 but my favorite is a G26. Have fun with your G30. I also reccomend Comp Tac holsters.
