Anyone have any experience with either of these? I'm looking for a ccw in .40, and the Glock 27 (with Pearce grip ext.) and the Beretta 9000 are currently at the top of the list.

I live in MA, so unless someone out there has a Mass. compliant XD40, that's out.

I have the G22 and also considered the 23, but don't know how well it conceals.

Any other suggestions are welcome, but things like Kimber are out here too.

Thanks!

Glock 27
The 9000 has a thumb safety.
Since you have a 22 already, you can use those mags in the 27.
I think earlier models of the 9000 had some problems.
Which do you shoot better?

Some versions of the 9000s have a thumb safety (Type F, IIRC), some were DAO (Type D, IIRC) but without the thumb safety. I had an early one (9mm DAO) and never had a problem. I did trade it for a GLOCK 19, mostly because the grip was a bit too fat to fit my hand correctly and because of a scarcity of holsters, etc.

That said, Springfield XDSC is what I suggest.

Edited to add: Heh. Brain cramp caused miss of the statement "XD40, that's out."

I've only got experience with my brother's 27. He can't hit a damn thing with it, but I'm deadly accurate with it. I've put about 400 rounds through it and I keep trying to get him to give it to me but he won't. (My logic is that he can't hit anything with it so it must be worthless to him. :) )

Just my .02

Regards,
Dave

I would get the Glock.

I used to like Berettas, but not anymore. I've grown to absolutely love the rugged simplicity of the Glock.

If you go with the 9000 make sure you can work all the safeties and buttons, rack the slide, etc. one handed, left handed, in unorthodox positions, etc. IMO the ergonomics are sucky and hard to manipulate even at the store.

Get a Kimber ultra or a Kahr...I have owned both the Baretta and the Glock..The Kimber and Kahr are way better for CCW.IMHO of course. If it has to be one of those get the Glock.
