Is there any reason that a G20 barrel wouldn't work in a G29?

Short answer - yes, there is a reason. The barrel locking lugs are shaped differently at the front where the recoil spring guide fits in.

Do NOT try it, unless you like cursing. Large and medium sized glocks use different barrel lugs.

You can use medium framed barrels in small framed glocks (assuming same caliber) but not large framed barrels in medium framed glocks, i.e., you can put a G23 barrel in a G27, but not a G22 barrel in a G23.

Wait... you already answered your own question. :D

You can put a G20 barrel in a G21, but extraction won't be reliable. ;)
