Guys/Girls, I figured that with the membership here, someone would have a listing of gunstores in the ABQ area.My Pop is looking to get his 1st handgun, specifically a PPK, and doesn't really know where to start looking for it, and I'm 1000 miles away.
    Thanks for your replies.

What is ABQ? If it's Albuquerque, I can help.

Sportsmans Warehouse has the best selection (on site) and prices in ALBQ. Charlies Sporting Goods and Ron Peterson Guns are also OK. You or your dad can also go to Galleryofguns.com and enter an ALBQ zip code and find about 15 gun dealers in ALBQ area. But a lot of these dont keep any inventory. Sortsmans Warehouse if your best bet to actually see/touch the gun your'e interested in. The only bad thing is the employees, while good intentioned, are not all that gun knowledgeable. Good luck.

Simon, if you get a chance to check out Caliber's, please let me know what you think.

From what I understand, they have one of only two indoor public ranges in New Mexico.

Monkeyleg: There aren't many indoor ranges in NM, but there more than two. As far as Calibers, I'll tell you what I know.

A lady friend of mine that has her CCW permit went into Calibers about a year ago to check out CCW guns. She already has a couple of Smith SS snubs (one .38, one .357), a Taurus PT140, and a Lady Smith 3913 (9MM), and wanted to check out a SIG 239. They talked down to her and told her she probably couldn't handle anything but a revolver. Basically, they told her she should go to the beauty shop & leave gun stuff to the men.

As far as pricing, they tried to sell her some used gun range junk for new gun prices.

Needless to say, no one I know does business with Calibers.

I will put in a 2nd vote for Ron Peterson Guns. My Grandfather and Uncle have been customers for decades.

One more vote for Ron Peterson. Sportsman's Warehouse may have a lot of guns on the wall, but Ron has the customer service. You can also usually haggle with Ron for a better than marked price. Shooter's Den on San Mateo just N. of Menaul is ok too. I've gotten kind of disgusted with Charlie's prices and service. Los Ranchos Gun Shop on N. 4th is decent to do business with as well, I recently got a really good deal on a Colt Det. Spec there.
