What movie is this from?

Someone is about to play Russian Roulette, but he tilts the gun back so the cartridge falls out of the cylinder and toward the ground. But, then he moves the gun down to his side, and the cartridge lands back inside the cylinder in a million-to-one shot. He goes to fire the gun at his head thinking the chamber must be empty, but someone who saw what happened yells "no!" and pushes his hand away and the gun fires into something else.

Can anyone name this movie? I don't remember the actors, the situation, anything but this brief sketch of the scene. But its been driving me nuts all morning.

While we're on this topic, something that has been bugging me for years: I remember a movie from the 60's or 70's where a turn of the century mercenary is assembling a machine gun as the enemy gets nearer. I think it might have been an old Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood western. Anyone remember this?

That is from the Good, The Bad and The Ugly. If it's what i think you are remembering. Clint Eastwood's character is putting his revolver back together after cleaning it, as Eli Wallach tries to sneak up to his door as an artillery barage takes place near them. Hope this helps.

Other films with Russian Roulette... obviously "The Deer Hunter" but also the movie "187" with Samuel Jackson. He plays Russian Roulette with some Latino gang members.

Oh, and "Boogie Nights" a drug dealer (played by Alfred Molina) does it. Actually, while we are on the topic, that is a pretty cool shootout/HD situation, if you minus it took place in a drug den. Anyone see it?
