Help Needed, Please~?

Please folks, hit this poll and help me decide~! :scrutiny:

I have a chance to purchase a couple of firearms from a private collection
that really interest me; but right now funds won't allow for me to buy both.
So, I need your help in helping me decide which one I should choose? As of
right now, I don't have a clue as too price, for either firearm; but I will tell
you, I have had a chance to examine them and they are superb pieces from
a collection that my boss bought out of Chicago.

By luck of the draw, #1 is a 3.5" barrel Smith & Wesson model 27-2 .357
magnum, blue steel, triple T's (trigger, hammer, and grips), RR, and WO rear
sight ANIB with tools (screwdriver, handle, and mop); in near 98%+ N.R.A.
condition, with wooden presentation case. It appears to be in UNFIRED
status.

#2- is a 3" barrel Smith & Wesson (old model) 60 SS with agjustable sights,
and fancy grips; ANIB and also appears to be in UNFIRED status.

These guns are just a small part of what was told to be a $15 million
dollar gun collection, and each piece has been well preserved. What
do you folks think would be the best investment for my money? Like
I said, I would love to have both of these weapons; but right now,
my finances won't allow it~! :( Thank you for your time, as well as
your thoughts.

the choice is really very simple. for anything other than concealed carry pick the model 27. for a ccw take the model 60. the model 27 is one of the best .357's ever made,strong, reliable and accurate. the model 60 is designed to be carried a lot but shot only once in a while.
 
Run, do not walk and get the Model 27!!
That gun with the box and accouterments is in great demand right now.
Don't let it get away.
 
I'd go with the model 27.

But I'd also be afraid to shoot either of them or take them out of the box even!!!!!!
 
For investment I say save your money. Now if the M27 was an older pre-numbered model like a 5 screw then I say consider that but both choices given are rather common with plenty of examples to be had.
 
I have some dim memory regarding production #'s on that 60 (I have one as you described), the production total seemed relatively low. I want to recall in the 3000's (?) .
Don't hold my feet to the fire on this, just a "collectability" consideration.

Update:

My boss did not work today (SAT, 20th SEPT, 08) so I'm still left hanging~? :eek:
However, I did get a chance to peek at these guns one more time;
hoping for at least a S&W model 27-2 with a "S" prefix serial number.
But (my heart skipped a beat :uhoh:), this weapon falls into the "N"
prefix serial number range. That is still OK by me, and I hope to have
a final answer on price for both weapons by the middle of the week.

FWIW, folk's I telling you there are some beauty's amongest this small
part of that collection. Mostly S&W's (revolver's and some semi-auto's),
with a few Colt semi-auto's scattered in. One Colt that I saw in particular
was an engraved Colt Officers Model Comencement ( I believe that is
what it was called~?); and numbered 1 of very few. Also, I saw a
blued, snub nose .44 SPL with RR and WO rear sight. I did not have
time too explore many others; but as you know, I love S&W 39-2's.
There were also several of these in the collection. Stay tuned, and
I will let you folks in on whats else is available; just as soon as I know~! ;)

I really like my 60-4(3"barrel 60 with adj sights), but a pristine 27-2 sound like fun.
send us a listing of gun if you would please.
I am looking for a S&W 10-5 or 7 with a 3" INTERMEDIATE barrel.
 
I'd also buy the Model 27.
More specifically, I'd keep my money and let someone like you buy the Model 27.
I'm just not fit to have nice things...
 
Well my friends thus far these weapons have not appeared on public
display. I think the reason is, they haven't been properly recorded
yet in the dealers "bound book"~! Note: Federal law prohibts the
sale of handguns too individuals across state lines; other than the
legal transfer from one FFL to another FFL in receipents state of
residence. :scrutiny: ;)
 
I would not presume to tell another man what gun to buy. Just as I wouldn't ask a stranger what I should purchase.

Decide what you want the gun to do and pick the one that will do it the best.
 
Without a doubt I would buy the M27.

I'm a huge fan of the .357 Magnum caliber and IMO the M27 & M28 are the best .357 Magnum revolvers ever made. You couldn't shoot a .357 Magnum N frame loose if you tried to!

Shoot it DA at a fast pace constantly like the gamers do and watch it loosen up as it begin to peen the cylinder notches and wear on the stop.
