How would you spend $2000?

Figured I was just dreaming on the full auto. But having one that's not full auto would seem like buying a new Camaro with a V-6. I'd want the muscle!

I will keep looking I think.
Oh, you wanted one in full auto? join the military, get in a sog team, and then request it for cqb, your CO might be willing to let you use one if you're in the right kind of team. A full auto kriss for a civilian ain't gonna happen unless you work for academi or some other pmc. the 4500 is for something like a 1960s sten, not a new weapon.

+1s to Kriss Vector and hammered double-shotgun, that kriss looks super sweet the way it absorbs the recoil, and it' be sweet to have that and my sidearm that take the same ammo- .45acp.
I like hammers on double-bbl scattergun too dammit! :)

First thing i'd honestly go for is a Springfield M1a, and a good amount of mags for it too. I've been lusting for one of these for a little while now, it's at the top of my list. After buying that I'd consider putting the rest towards the Kriss or double-scatter, neither of which I own yet, but i'd also be inclined to pumping up my mag collection for the guns I already own, and I never have enough ammo! (sorry I did read the original post and all the others, but there is no such thing as enough ammo!)

It's not terribly unique, but a Vz.58 is great. Fun to shoot, cheap to shoot, and your friends probably don't have one.

To answer some questions.

No real holes in my collection. I've got guns for every purpose so this would strictly be for fun.

I'm not interested in competition guns. I live in a rural area and the closest actual range where they have competitions is too far to drive on a regular basis.

Do you have a good chunk of land? Cause now your really pushing the AR-10/long range setup! :D

I'm in a similar boat. Last year i did a HK USC to UMP conversion. Right now i'm considering a VZ58(5.56 or 7.62) and a Saiga 223 to convert, a DSA FAL or a .45 can. Honestly though your question is just way too broad. Only you know what you like to shoot so narrow it down to a few options and then ask about those.

I considered the KRISS before doing the UMP. The recoil system is really cool in full auto but I don't see the point in a semiauto. Also, i heard they can be finicky with ammo.

I've kind of wanted a nice Cooper rimfire with a nice scope, but don't know if that's going to be in my price range. Cooper's website is pretty poor in terms of looking at photos and getting an idea on price.

Get a 10/22 and deck it out with an aftermarket stock and as much match grade stuff as you can get your hands on.

You will have a beautiful rifle that you can shoot every day if you want and never have worry about bringing down the value.

Except for an AR-15, there isn't a single firearm that I've wanted to own, that I haven't acquired. I have a nice mix of centerfire and rimfire handguns, rifles, and I also have a nice pump action 12-gauge.
So about that $2000? I think now is a really, really good time to buy lots and lots of ammo.

$2,000 doesn't buy much nowadays. Keep this in mind when you got to the gun store and don't fall over from a heart attack.

You won't be able to get a good rifle and a quality optic (assuming a new gun). Consider that a good AR-10 style rifle from LaRue or Noveske costs at least $2500. Knights are crazy expensive at $4,000+. Quality M1A's cost at least $1500. Even FAL's are pushing $2,000+ with modern features.

Your best bet is to determine the use for the gun or guns and buy accordingly. I do recommend you buy combat grade firearms first. The reason is self-defense is covered and many guns suitable for self-defense can be used in many competitions without modification.

$2000 huh? That's enough to get me my new HK45c, a boatload of ammo, and some extra mags. As well as some left over to start saving for a MacBook Air (next one that comes out haha)

I am in a similar boat this summer, the wife has granted me $2500 in exchange for her taking a one time assignment that will have her away from home for 6months. What I am going to do is buy something that will always keep, something I can look at in 10years and say "I have this because I gave up my wife for 6months", i want something special and unique. Right now, I am leaning towards either a custom 1911 (Les Bear, Ed Brown type), or going 9mm AR build with an SBR and suppressor w/my SSAR stock. I dont have many holes in my collection either, which is why i want 1 special item. Best of luck to your in your decision, but have fun with it and really enjoy whatever it is you choose.

2K got me a 1979 chrome P7 with 2 mags and a Sig C3 with 3 mags & hogue grips on the side ( turned out my hand like them better than the pretty wood) and a S&W M60 3" Pro and $20 in change.
miso happy...though i am trying to unlust myself from a SAS P238

I think I'm all set as far as arms, but would lay in some bullets and powder for the future. Possibly get some extra brass for a couple calibers I'm shy on, reload and get ready..........

FN 45 tactical with red dot, or H&K tactical 45, suppressed Two of the most accurate handguns in the world. Or a wilson CQB if I had to kick in another thousand, or a bill wilson carry maybe another 1,500.
