HSUS versus American Humane Society

OK, lookit. I was under the understanding that the American Humane Society was more of a "mainstream" humane group, which was not anti-hunting per se, whereas the HSUS are the extremist whackos who want to abolish all sport hunting and even pet ownership.

Now, while HSUS most certainly ARE "the extremist whackos who want to abolish all sport hunting and even pet ownership" (that much is widely and well known), I was just reading online that the AHS *also* has as its goal to abolish all sport hunting. Are they just as fruity and extremist as the HSUS, or did I read a falsehood? Thanks.

AHS is also wacked out and against 2nd amendment, hunting and fishing.

That's why there's been a little brouhaha over Rush Limbaugh and his public service announcement for the AHS.

I couldn't find anything regarding hunting on American Humane's website. It does say they are in no way affiliated with HSUS. I work with a lady who probably belongs to one or both of the organazations, but I doubt I could get a straight answer from her, she is completely anti-hunting. "Saving animals" is her whole world, she lives and breathes "unfortunate animals." Doesn't give much of a damn about humans far as I can tell.

Did a search on their site and came up with this:

Hey fellows,

There is only one documented "idea" of internet hunting. A shot, as far as I can ascertain, has never been paid for. I'm almost sure that it was field tested though. But the initial "advertisement" for the "hunt" created such a furor, that it never went anywhere.

I'll try to get the details and post them, give me a couple of hours.

If the HSUS is so bad for hunting and maybe they are i could care less. It was announced about three weeks ago the a large donation was made to the HSUS by Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Now these two have been guest on alot of hunting shows and work in favor of hunting and shooting sports. It would seem odd to make a donation to a organization that works to take away something they beleive in.

On the other hand it's entirely possible that they were confused. HSUS definitely plays on the similarity of their name to the AHS.

I don't give a nit for either of 'em, personally. Hunting aside, I love dogs and cats, but they don't have more rights than humans. These guys seem to think so. Yeah, there are things they should be after like dog fighting and stuff, but if I catch a feral mutt on my place, I feel obligated to take it out before it does anymore damage. SSS, they say. These guys would have me lynched for that. You know, I don't understand how a feral dog or even a pet that's after wildlife has anymore rights than the wildlife. I've found dead deer mauled, but not eaten, before. I KNOW it was dog packs that did it. Wild carnivores don't kill for fun, they kill to eat.
