I have a Remington model 725 in 270,
I decided I wanted to build something out of it since I told my wife I wasn't going to buy any new guns this month.

SO I ordered a Blackhawk Knoxx axiom stock for a rem 700
will this stock work I am hoping with some trimming it will,

also I ordered a Kwik klip kit with removable 4 and 10 round mags from cabelas, 95 percent positive this will fit.

I have a 4 x 12 varmint scope I will put on it,
trigger is awesome, plan on loading up some 140 grain hornady sst's infront of some imr 4064.

any other ideas, oh yeah, for that taticool I am going to out a 3 slot muzzel brake on the barrel.

I think I would leave that nice 725 bone stock for collector value and build and modify a plain jane 700 if you what to customize something.

Welcome to THR, trentb.

As mentioned, there are not that many 725 Rem made, but it's your rifle.
The stock should be a fit with a little tinkering as long as you ordered a long action version.
I'm not a tactical kind of guy, so you're on your own with the brake.

IMR4064 will work, but the 270 Win likes a slower powder like one of the 4350 family of powders or Rel-19 or Rel-22.
Regardless, you need to work up loads to see what is accurate in that rifle.

well, all the stuff for the 725 came in,
the blackhawk axiom stock fit with just a little trimming
the kwick klip works great, and just waiting on my new scope to finish this project off. waiting on my lee collet dies, and it is off to the races. It looks awesome, and the 725 action is butter smooth. and for those concerned about destroying a 725, I kept all the stock pieces so if I decide to sell someday, I can turn it back to stock

A very wise thing to do in my view. I've always loved the Model 725 for how it looks and handles in its stock form. ;)

OK, I have the dies, have loaded some test loads, and ordered a chronograph. This weekend I am heading out to shoot this baby,
I will take some pics and try to figure out a load that works the best, I got 4350 powder, already had cci 200 primers, and using hornady 130 sst bullets,

Congrats on the 725 and on keeping the ability to return it to stock. I have only ever seen and handled one in my lifetime - 40 years ago. I have regreted many times that I didn't bite the bullet and buy it.
52.5 gr. 4350 with 130 gr. pill was my 1 hole load for 270, when I had one.

well I shot the gun this weekend,
I have to admit, that black hawk axiom stock makes this gun shoot like a kitten. it doesn't recoil even half as hard as it used to.
I ended up installing my springfield armory scope on it, but the rings I have pop out of the groove in bases and slide back, so so far I have managed a 1 inch group with neck sized win. cases, hornady 130gr sst and 56.00 grains of imr 4350 chrono at 3050 fps at 10 feet. so this morning I ordered a 15 moa 1 piece rail and a bombproof set of rings. SO this little project is almost done.

I will get some pics soon. Side note also chrono'd my 204 with 26 grain varmit grenades she was shooting 4250 fps, I used that to shoot my 560 yard steel plate, that doesn't sound near a nice as the 270 hitting steel, but gotta love the little 204

here are some pics
