I do not agree with all of the NRA positions and I think the NRA was late getting to the Supreme Court while there was still time. It took patriots like Bob Levy of the Cato Institute and Alan Gura to do that.

One thing for sure, however, the NRA supports the 2nd Amendment.
So I joined.

As a fellow member of the NRA I thank you for the support.

I know that perfect is a high standard to hold anybody to, so I believe it is the right thing to do . The good far outweights the need for improvement.

There should be at least a couple million more supporters of the constitution that could easily join us in the fight to preserve the 2nd amendment.

Time to cowboy up

Everybody that enjoys the freedom of the sec admendment should belong to one of the RTKBA groups, I have been involved in 2A activism since the late 60's and early 70's....life NRA....also support SAF....it has come down to the wire now folks, you are either going to be part of the solution or part of the problem. Having been involved in the struggle for over 40 years, I can tell you that if it wasn't for these lobbying groups, we would have been stripped of our rights a couple of decades ago. The NRA contributed 20 million to supporting pro gun legislators last year...the anti's spent $4,000. That is one of the reasons that Gabby Gifford has been recruited to be the new "poster child" of gun control, so that the anti's can raise more money. Fight for your rights, contact ur legislators, join a lobbying group, attend 2A rallies.

Well done. The NRA isn't perfect, but it has done the 'single issue' thing pretty well. There are pro-life/choice, gay marriage/socialist/communist/pro-drug/anti drug and any other opinions in the NRA tent; but we all warm ourselves at the RKBA fire and leave the rest at the door. Or we try to.

Welcome to the pack! Now please spread the good word to your shooting friends and convince them to join.

Just as additional information, it took me a long time to join because in general the message toward Democrats and liberals is pretty unfriendly. Exclusionary certainly.

It certainly doesnt help NRA membership.

(I am talking more about 'implied' exclusion rather than explicit.)

I find most of the NRA's social positions to be pretty retrograde. But as I am fond of telling Anti-Constitutionalists; the NRA is driven by it's members. If you want the NRA to change, join up and change the NRA.

I'm either joining the NRA or the SAF next paycheck I get. I would join both, but I'm on a terribly strict budget at the moment. I know neither are too expensive but that's how strict my budget is. I'm leaning towards the SAF. What say you? Who do you join if you can only join one? I'm not really concerned with magazines or free offers or anything like that. Purely donation to defending our rights. Maybe just donate to the NRA-ILA?

I, too, was on the fence about my expiring membership with the NRA and jumping ship due to them completely screwing up my information and subscription. Once I see how they handle things in days to come, I'll make up my mind. But, based on the popularity of gun rights groups, I believe the NRA gets the nod for being "the" voice on our side.

@ 9mmare - a friend and I had the same problem, his solution was just to give an extra $50 to support other causes/politicians he favors. Works for me.

Now if we could only get someone who didn't sound like an idiot running the place. I realize lapierre has been pretty effective supporting gun rights, but I cringe almost very time he opens his mouth in public. One could take the same positions, but make better arguments that wouldn't sound quite so poorly thought out.

Thank you. If every gun owner joined, we could roll back some anti guns laws.

I am a SAF and GOA member, as well as a NRA member. I joined the other two to keep the NRA honest... :neener:

Do something!

At this point , I don't think it is important what you do in regards to joining which RTKBA's group.... just join one or two and join the fight.
