Spent the day with my wife today. :) Just driving around town and decided to swing by the LGS and see what they had in stock because she doesn't really like her CC pistol. They had the Ruger LCP .380 Auto with laser and she asked to look at it. After handling it and checking out all of the features, she really liked it but we decided to hit another store to see what they had. We get there and she heads one way and I went the other. I wanted to replace my current CC gun with a compact .45ACP. Anyhow, I was talking to the guy behind the counter about the Glock 36 and my dilema and he says I have something you might be interested in. He told me that they just got it in so he didn't know much about it....he hands me an XDs! I've heard alot of good things about it and as I'm looking at it, other people start looking over my shoulder at it and asking questions. So I'm standing there fondling the gun trying to run numbers through my head when my wife step up to me and asks if I found anything. I said "Yes but....." And she whispers in my ear "Then get it, Happy Father's day! Did I mention that I LOVE my wife? Anyhow I now have a new DXs and we went back to the other store and got her the LCP...I think she loves me too! I can't wait till our next trip to the range!:D

Looks like the wife is taking care of you. What about a new gun for her?

That's True Love....
You are blessed to have a good woman that loves you so much. I wish I had someone to share life with like that.

Hey, does she happen to have a sister who is single and lives in FL?

The funny thing is, on the drive home she told me we were done buying guns for the year except for a rifle. I asked her "What rifle is she looking for"? And she said that I had been talking about getting a Remington model 700 in .308 WIN and that was the rifle she was talking about! :)

Yup, I have a keeper! :D :D

That is awesome. You have yourself a good woman. Mine did the same a few months ago, she bought me a Sig P220, knowing I wanted to get away from carrying a 1911. You got yourself a heck of a gun. The XD's are nice.

I've got a KEEPER too. My wife called 8 gun dealers all over the state of Texas and finally found me a new S&W Shield in 9mm yesterday. A store in Houston got 1 in yesterday and when she flew in from Florida, she went by and picked it up. Then she had to drive 2 hours home. It seems that there are a lot of Shields avaliable in 40 cal but the 9mm's are back ordered everywhere. She has surprized me like this many times in the last 21 years we have been married. She said there were tow guys in the store that wanted to "hold it" as she was paying for it.

Sorry, she has two sisters but they are both married. One even married a non-gun owning, Obama suporter.

I had a similar situation where I bought one online with a money order so my wife wouldn't see it on the credit card.....oh wait...that's not the same at all.

Congrat's on the XDS!

Your wife is one in a million! Sounds like you have the best of everything with her and your gun collection! Enjoy your good fortune.

I love this thread! Great seeing people appreciate their other halves.

My girlfriend is amazing. She was never around guns before, but she is now a proficient pistol shooter. I'm already a member at one gun club (indoor range only), and she is actively pushing me to buy long guns, and get a membership at a second gun club, which has multiple outdoor ranges. We're even taking time off in January to go to Shot Show 2013.

Well mine mixed up my ammo in her effort to be organized all the time, she put some 9mm in with 40cal, and some hollowpoints in with the FMJ's. Thanks Hon,
I actully fired 2 9mm's out of my 40, the FTE, made me check the gun as it has never had an issue, and sure enough the first 3 mags were 40, the rest were a mix of 9,40 and 9 HP. Nothing bad happened, I shot a new box right there, and it ran through them perfectlly, I guess with a different caliber and a plastic gun, I could have had a catostrophic failure. The bulge in the case and failure to eject should have caused me to stop after one round, But without my bifocals on, I really can't see the size difference at all. Once I put them on it was obvious. A through inspection upon returning home showed nothing, not a mark with a glass, and a bore light.
First time in 50 years I ever did that. And I was teaching a guy to boot.
Never said anything to her as she would blame it on me anyway. Good intentions could have cause a big problem. Enjoy the car, I had 7, in 50 years, did you get the zo6, or the stock. I know now you can spend over a hundred grand on one with 600-1000 HP with twin superchargers turbo's or any other combo you want, come over to Vero and take me for a ride one day.

Mine does not need to buy me gifts. She just loves me with all of her heart and I return the favor. You do not need to be filthy rich to be happy.

I almost think we should start a poll thread. Option 1: wife hates guns, have to beg her to let me buy one.
Option 2: wife loves guns, have to beg her to let me borrow one.
Option 3: bachelor, eats Top Ramen to save money for range ammo.

Option 1: I drove by the lgs with her today, it is going out of business and fire saling everything. She was kind enough to let me get a new pistol, 2000 rounds of ammo, and a few impulse purchases to match the shotgun I came home with yesterday! I'm a lucky man

People put 9mm through .40 caliber Glocks all the time.

Model 22s and 23s ending up in boxes labeled 17 and 19 is pretty common in bigger stores that may just grab whatever box is close enough, and some people follow the box without interpreting the markings on the slide and magazine.

And barrel.

Anyway frame material doesn't make a difference, a safe pistol in .40 isn't going to have any catastrophic failure from running 9mm, you can't build enough pressure to cause a problem the chamber can't shrug off.

mcdonl,

I don't interpret any of the posts here to be about the material. To me, the thread reads as appreciation for significant others who support our passion, out of love. Whether that is by buying a firearm, going to the range, or simply asking how you shot on a given day, the message is, "I know that you enjoy this. I love you, and I enjoy seeing you happy."

My .02
