I think the Dems are going to dump Kerry at the convention...

That's right. I've noticed in the past week that Kerry is the presumptive Democrat candidate in the mainstream media. Bush is still leading Kerry in the polls no matter how bad things are seeming to get in Iraq and millions of dollars spent attacking Bush.

I really think they'll dump him for someone they think can win. Unfortunately Sam Nunn isn't running.....I wonder who they'll try to draft?

But most likely it will be Hillary IF they dump anyone...

But I don't think Hillary would run this year... too much to lose if she loses which she could lose.

She'll wait until '08 after Bush leaves.
 
IF they do dump Kerry...

...and if the old saying that oppositions don't win elections, the government loses them holds true...

...then it won't be Hillary this time round. It'll be somebody in a similar position to Kerry.

Any precedence for doing this? Has someone who lost out in the primaries ever been selected over the presumptive candidate? Edwards did seem quite popular but I can't see how it would be him.

Just musing and questions from across the sea.
 
Really, at this point Kerry's victory is pretty much assured unless he gets caught diddling small boys or something. Delegates are delegates, and he's got a pile of them.

Thing about Kerry is, he has the nomination all but locked up because Dean wound up looking too radical. But compare their positions, and Kerry is the most radical of the Democratic field, not Dean. Still, Dean went mental on national TV, so here we are.
 
If they dump Kerry, I lean more toward believing they will draft Hillary. She is the only one with name recognition across the nation. This seems especially likely given the major complaint Democrats are voicing about Kerry is he sounds too much like Bush. Another benefit for Hillary is by jumping in this race, the republicans don't have a lot of time to mount a campaign against her like they would if she waits for the next election. She stands a good chance of uniting the democratic party, even if only for a short period and she could also pull in the "anybody but Bush" crowd.
 
I think it is possible that Kerry gets dumped because he is too liberal, too far to the left, and therefore unelectable. But who elses do the Dems have that is formidable enough to take on Bush?

I am not sure Hillary is all that formidable even though the news media generally love her. Then there may be a general amount of Clinton fatigure that many voters will be put off for another President Clinton.

On the other hand, with the Iraq thing, who in their right mind would want to inherit that as President?
 
Hillary is as liberal as Kerry is... if not more so.

We all know she has no moral values whatsoever.

That said, I really doubt she'll accept if Kerry is voted out.
 
Why would you want the Dems to dump Kerry? He will lose for sure - a landslide is my prediction. Kerry is a total chump and he is the sacrificial lamb for Hillary in 2004, so that she can run in 2008, and she just might win then - God help us.

Besides, things don't work that way since the primary system. Kerry has the delegates he needs to get nominated already.

The convention today is just posturing B.S. (for both parties).

A shame. I don't believe in the primary system at all. It often turns the presidential race into a popularity contest.

At the conventions let each party decide who they want to carry their standard into the election, and then let the people decide. I think we would get much better candidates that way.
 
I agree with bad_dad. Kerry is the "Bob Dole" of the 2004 election.
The dems are offering up the most wastable guy they can....

Did anyone else notice that Kerry's release of medical records did not include the final magic #3 purple heart wound report which was "signed" JCCAREON. J Carre-on. John Carry-on. John Kerry.

Apparently the signature is on the document but you have to go personally to see it at the Kerry headquarters.

Compensation

No, what the Crats will do is nominate a "moderate" to balance out the ticket. Lieberman would be the obvious choice if he hadn't bombed out with Gore. I look for Clark, or Carole Mosley Braun, whose no moderate, but would bring a female African-American to the ticket. A craven stunt which could work, but which might get Kerry whacked in as short a time as if Hellary were his Veep.

Yeah. Look for craven and flashy. :rolleyes:
 
I have noticed CNN performing many less-than inspiring cheering sessions for Kerry. Its like they are slowly backing away... Maybe its just the times I catch the channels, but the CNN folks just dont seem to be flying their big--a$$ed "Kerry Flag" like one would expect, like they did for Gore and Dean. They only seem to have a few of those hand-held 4x6 Kerry flags, and they arent holding them up high, if you know what I mean.

They are playing this really close to the vest. I think they may be trying to make the "post convention bounce" as big as possible.
 
I've heard Kerry will pick a "vanilla" candidate for VP so as not to overshadow him. His ego sort of supports that but my opinion is no better than anyone else's.
 
Here'ss a thought.

Has anyone considered Bill Richardson [I think that's his name]? Ex-cabinet member. He's now the gov. of New Mexico. In my humble opinion, he seems to be the only Democrat whose wiring is anywhere near up to code.

Put Lieberman back in the VP slot, or maybe stick Edwards with it.

I hope sKerry gets it for obvious reasons. I hope I am not responsible for giving the cRATs any winning ideas. But, hey, this is an "intellectual" excercise. And the DEMons have got to be thinking about sKerry's chances too.
