Identify these .308 bullets?

Does anyone know who made these? They are .308 180 gr. FMJ. Not HP Match, (exposed lead at base) I don't think they are still in production and don't have the original box. Couldn't find anything on the bullet company sites I've checked.

Up until the 1960's, Sierra's Match bullets (including the 180gr bullet) were FMJ bullets. After they introduced the 168gr Sierra MatchKing in 1959 (a hollowpoint design), they converted the 180gr, 190gr, and 200gr Match bullets over to HP's. Perhaps you have some early Sierra Match bullets?

They do certainly match the older sierra BT, for certain.

That makes sense, guys. Most everything I had gotten in this little stash was Sierra, but yes, it's some pretty old stuff. Thanks!

I don't think any "match" grade would have an open base especially if it was a boat tail design, all "match" grade HP BT bullets I have seen had a solid base be it either flat base or boat tail.

Those are probably military surplus or pull downs.

Around 1961 a local shooter tore down 500 rounds of .300 H&H Remington Match ammunition (green box) and sold off the bullets and brass through my LGS. I guess he just wanted the powder for some project. The bullets shown by the OP look identical. I bought the bullets and have used them in .30-06 and .308 Winchester with excellent accuracy for years. And yes, children, FMJBT match bullets were made with open bases like this since the beginning by all the manufacturers.
