I am so angry. There was a bill that would have made Illinois shall issue but it did not come out of committee. This had better not pass! I am tired of creating special classes of people who are eligible to exercise their rights without fear of government reprisal.

Unless the rest of us are allowed to carry I hope this proposal continues to be voted down. I dont suppport the elitist spirit behind it. A judges life, or the life of any other court employee is no more important than my own. I would rather have CCW for none than NYC style carry.

courthouse full of felons that might want to hurt court workers eh?

Then what in the blue fudge is OUTSIDE the courthouses?!

I live in Texas, and this makes me mad!

Elitism is a daily occurance here in Illinois. They tried to pass something like this before but I believe it was shot down. I wonder if the recent shooting at VT will change that?

Even though it has nothing to do with judges and other courtroom officials it might make them think twice.

It could be the start of something better, hopefully.

The elitist spirit behind it really rubs me the wrong way. The only good I see in it is if it leads to CCW for all, but I hope it gets shot down again.

I do believe Rep. Bost was one of those people that got the special hunting permits too. That said Bost is really one of ours as you know. Bost has been a sponsor for concealed carry bills before, I really don't think its elitism as much as trying to take a step in the right direction. That said I'm not sure what I think of it. On one hand the more people we have carrying in illinois the better. The more nervous I make my political enemies the better even if it means taking small steps instead of one giant step. I also recognize the need to draw the line in the sand at some point and say "if you want this right, you need to push for it to apply equally to everyone."

Well we could draw the line right here and now.

We certainly could, but if it helps get our foot further in the door by making concealed carry more accepted in Illinois it wouldn't be in our best interest to do so, even if we'd feel really good about it. Or are we heading down the road where the police, politicians, and judicial workers will all be armed at which point that will be deemed ideal and the plebes shall remain unarmed? I have no idea. It'd be interesting to call or write bost's office and get more information his position.

We need to talk to Mr. Bill Black about running for senator.

While I dont see it as opening the door up to CCW anymore than LEOSA did I would like to piss off the Chicago politicians.

However I cant support a law that grants priveledges (because its not a right until anyone can do it) to certain people while those same punish others for doing the same thing as them.

Shouldn't the headline read: "My life is worth protecting but yours isn't."

All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others. Orwell was right...

This last line actually stunned me. Being charged with a crime automatically equates to PROVEN FACT that they "don't really care about the law."

I think my gut went a little numb from all the vomiting I just did...

I think any step towards CCW should be looked upon as a good thing. While this is less then ideal there is something to be said for taking baby steps towards our goal.
