i'm in the dark re: the "kx" and "cl" scopes. what company makes them? i'm pretty stuck on wanting usa made. not sure if they fit that criteria

These are the Kahles brand designation for two of their models. The Kahles line was once considered one of the very best optics out there! They still are top shelf scopes, and their quality is on par with Swarovski, which owns Kahles, by the way.

To each his own...I have several really old Burris Black Diamond units that I will say surpass the 3 Kahles units in my possession, in edge to edge sharpness, definition and resolution...now, notice I said really old Burris units, the new Burris stuff is not impressive at all, comparatively.

Kahles is 100% made in Austria and imported by Gamo Air rifles into the US.

The Helia CL models are variable magnification 1" tube units with side focus parallax adjustments, an excellent scope by anybodies standards. Sadly, they have been discontinued. And the new 30mm tube CSX series will take its place.

Kahles is also offering their K series target models in 3-12X50 with magnifying, first plane reticles and a 34mm tube.... And their 4.5-18X50, 30mm tube model with a non-magnifying, second plane reticles for purchase in the US market.

The Kahles K 3-12X50 is an awesome scope!

That explains a great deal...they even look like a Swaro. now that I think about it.

...and you said this will be available in the US...right? Looks like a promising optic if the price is right. We certainly need more choices for FFP scopes.

:)

If you're still set on US made (don't blame you, but our Euro and Japanese friends make excellent stuff as well) I believe that the Zeiss Conquest are assembled in the US.

Premier and US Optics are the only full US companies I think. Leupold's cheaper models are Chinese made I think, don't know if this was confirmed or not, but my VX-I sure feels cheap.

Midway USA, Liberty Optics and Optics Planet are the best IMHO. Except it took me a few extra days to get my Steiner binoc's from Optics Planet but I got a great deal.

Yes sir, and a spectacular scope as well. I highly doubt that PR (or USO) is 100% US manufacture, there is no way we can make glass that good. I believe that all components, save for the glass (which I believe is Euro.), is US made.

:)

+1 for Scott at Liberty Optics!! :) His customer service is outstanding, as are his prices and I've never received anything so well packaged as the PRH scope that I bought from him. To top it all off, he KNOWS what he's talking about. He uses the products that he sells so if you have a question as to whether you need a 3x15 or a 5-25 or double turn vs single turn turrets etc, he'll give you very good advice. I'll be ordering from him again ... no doubt about it.

:)

Shop around. I don't believe opticsplanet has really great prices. For Leupold, you might try Manventureoutpost or Natchez shooters supply.
