Ok folks.... need a bit of help here. Awhile back I built up a sweet little 1911 Officer's .45 and once it got a set of night sights on it I was all set to make this a carry piece. Put on a pair of thin grips and boy was this a nice thin carry option!
Recently I've been looking at laser sights. I finally broke down and bought a pair of Crimson Trace grips for one of my full size 1911's and MAN what a difference these things make in targeting! The only down side is the plastic-ness of the grips... they just don't have that 'feel' or warmth that wood does.
My main issue is they are about the size of full width grips, which for my gov't 1911 is no problem, but I'm really torn about getting a pair for my compact 1911. I love the ability to put the dot on a target and put holes near there, but for daily carry?
Have you put CT grips on your compact 1911? Did you ever swap them out for thin profile grips? Which did you stick with and why?
