    "Mareketed to children?!!?"

Well then, if your minimun gun purchase age worked, then we wouldn't have to worry about this, right?? How can guns be successfully marketed to children, who can't legally buy guns, if your gun laws are effective?

Essentially, gun control doesn't work.

Another anti shot down... where's the sticker for my fuselage? :D

It looks like the folks at VPC don't understand that many (perhaps even a majority) gun owning parents happily buy firearms for their children so that they can teach them how to use them properly and can have some quality bonding time with their kids.

I'd also guess the fact that (according to a Department of Justice study) kids who are given guns by their parents have lower rates of delinquency and criminal behavior than all other groups is completely lost on them.

I love the hyporcrisy of the names these groups give themselves. If the VPC were really interested in reducing violent behavior they would do some research and address the cause of it rather than trying to outlaw the tools criminals use and can get illegally anyway.

    My response e-mail

In response to the page on your website claiming that guns are marketed to children I say of course they are. Many gun owners enjoy teaching their children to shoot. It is a chance for a parent to bond with their child and teach them how to use a firearm in a responsible manner. Naturally, children cannot easily use firearm sized for adults so gun manufacturers churn out models small enough for to use.

As a gun owner and a future father I am glad they do it. I fully intend to teach my children how to shoot and hunt.

Unfortunately, your website and your group believe that teaching children how to handle guns responsibly, and the gun manufacturers making firearms appropriately sized for children somehow promotes violence.

Quite frankly the facts say otherwise.

The 1994 study Urban Delinquency and Substance Abuse by the U.S. Department of Justice found that children who were given a firearm by a parent were less likely to be involved in street crime, gun crime, and drug use than children who did not have a gun or acquired one illegally.

I've included a link to this study below. I advise you to read it and think about the facts of gun violence, gun control, and gun safety.

If you truly care about the facts you will understand that the manufacture and sale of these guns actually reduces violence by making it easier for parents to teach their children to responsible gun handlers and eventually gun owners.

If your goal is really to reduce violence in this country you will recognize that the youth models gun manufacturers produce are there so parents can teach their children how to handle guns responsibly and safely.

I may be reconsidering my passion for guns. The VPC is so balanced and fair. They even lead their LINKS section with pro-gun links. The last one on the list is the Stormfront White Nationalist Resource Page.

    Don't suppose they're sending a message, huh?

Oh yeah, I forgot to add the little barfy face. Oh, there he is. :barf:

.22s, and .410s and 20-gauges, OH MY! :what: :what:

Wow. Afraid of a kid with a .22. That's just sad. Now a kid with an AK-47 COULD be different, but in my case, I'd be less dangerouse than a kid with a .22LR, because I'm older... and won't have any ammo available. :( (Until we go shooting, then we get ammo.)

A true AK stock has a shorter length reach actually -- makes it perfect for kids -- and small women.

I completely forgot about the Henry. In another couple of years I'll buy my little grand-bubba a Henry complete with all the trimmings.

Thanks VPC for such a valuable list of Kid's .22's.

That's kinda like saying mini-vans are aimed towards getting under age drivers behind the wheel just because they made ammends for a childs comofort.

I'm sure my 5year old has saved up $800+ to go buy himself a Kimber Classic .22

How many kids under the age of 21 can come up with the cash for that?
I've never seen a ad that marketed a Kimber Classic to kids either....maybe I missed it.

I've never seen an ad marketing ANY firearms to kids. Hint VPC: They're marketed to DADS and GRANDPAS.

    Gotta love this one:

    Connecticut Valley Arms / Youth Hunter / 50 / 5 lbs. / 24" / muzzleloader

Oh. Those terrible house-apes. And their evil frontstuffing smokepoles.:scrutiny:

Well, that's very decent and fair of them. That Stormfront page doesn't even mention guns or RKBA.

I guess it would be OK if I put up an anti-gun links page and put VPC next to a bunch of kiddie-porn sites. Hey, have you ever met a pro-gun child pornographer? I can honestly say I haven't.

"While not a comprehensive collection of all youth guns available, it illustrates the scope of the effort by the gun industry to market firearms to children."

Actually it illustrates the demand for youth sized firearms by those who can legally purchase them (adults). If there was no demand there would not be such an aray of options on the supply side.

The first time I saw this I emailed them and thanked them for the list, was wondering what to buy my kid for Christmas.
Then I politely mentioned that the NRA website had all kinds of useful information about gun safety and asked if they had any or not.
Got a pretty rude reply back from them.:D

Post it, I'm interested. I figured that they never bother to read pro-gun e-mails at all, much less reply to them.

That was quite some time ago, I no longer have a copy of the reply.
