Greetings from West of the San Pedro. I just came back from a cool extended weekend up in the great white Northern AZ. I think my family and I have just only thawed out from all the fun up there.
Your information request is pretty open ended so I'll keep my specifics pretty general too. I've owned models from both MFRs. I still own the Para. It has joined the small group of only a few pistols that has been able to come right out of the box, load it up an successfully run a full club USPSA match with it. Oh, and win the match too! < extra pleasant surprise > Yeah, no fuss, no fluff and buff, just stuff the mags full of Winchester White box and run it.
Yes, it has since been maintained, cleaned and lubed, well after the match. I do this to help me gauge how it will work for me as delivered. This is my assessment technique, not intended to address what others may need. I tend to run my bottom feeders < pistols > and wheelies < revolvers > for both fun and serious uses.
Your mileage may vary as each company produces a large number of products. This is in no way disparaging to any company. Just as the old saying about only accurate guns <sic> are interesting. So it goes for being able to run a particular piece well.
The Kimber shot ok and functioned reasonably well but it just was not well enough for me to keep. The Para was a good fit, excellent accuracy and has been an excellent value for me. I'm considering adding another one in a difference caliber as I've had quite a bit of fun with this one.

para made alot of inivations in the 1911, the pxt, the lda trigger which yeah i know goes against the original design of the 1911, but as a fan of dao type triggers, i love it, the lda is a great trigger IMHO. they were the first to do the high cap frame, and that is cool, not for me, but lots of people like them.
i have experience with 2 para's, one c 7.45 with lda trigger, it was so reliable that it would seriously feed .45acp brass, i didn't believe it either until i watched it. it was accurate, and fun and easy to shoot.
I also had a few outings with a tricked out custom high cap model, it was great as well.
i have shot/ trained with many kimbers, just to name a few the custom tle, pro tle, pro covert, grand raptor, pro tactical, custom 2 and too date every one that i shot was accurate, reliable, and easy to shoot, i personally think that some of kimbers best work is in thier commander size guns, and i especially love thier aluminum framed models.
i think both companies do great work, and really to me it would be which company out of the two makes a model that meets my needs and wants the closest.

I have a UCII and a Para doubled stacked Gun Rights model.. The para has been flawless!! The kimber was flawless after about a 100 rounds or so. I trust both of them with my life. Wow besides Quack naming other mfg's there isn't any bashing. I'm impressed

I have owned four Paras (all LDA) and six Kimbers.
I currently own one Para (nightstand 13 round Tac-Four) and five Kimbers, looking at another.
The LDA is a great system; however, the more I shoot, the more I like the traditional 1911 trigger.

Had a para lda PDA it was nicest trigger I have ever shot I would have to give the edge to kimber better quality and more reliable
I have both brands. Both can be fine weapons, and both of mine are.
Here's a target I just shot this week with a new (for me), like-new 2003 Para P14.45 LDA "Limited." A LEO bought it but then decided not to transition to this unique manual of arms and put it in his safe. It wasn't fired much.
Groups are ten shots each, shot at twenty-five yards. I haven't measured 'em but they are probably right at about 3" each or a tad less . . . decent accuracy for a defensive pistol from the bench at 25 yards.
HOWEVER . . . these two groups were shot STANDING and UNSUPPORTED. That changes everything! This is a very accurate pistol. I've yet to bench shoot it at 25 yards, and I've only shot it so far with the cheap yellow box .45ACP ball from Wally World.
I'm looking forward to discover the true potential of this accurate handgun!

Well from what I have seen I like Kimbers the best but I also like Para's because of their 14-45 model where you can get 14 rounds of kick butt .45 ammo. I don't know which way to go but I'm happy with my Kimber for now. Thanks for the help everyone!

for those that are or have had issues with thier para's, hopefully they will pull thier acts together once they get moved down to N.C.

I have a Kimber TLE II and love it, I didn't know a whole lot about 1911s when I was buying one but the guy at the gun shop said for a $1000 that Kimber's were the best quality and this guy really knows his stuff and had other 1911s for a $1000 so it wasn't like he was just trying to sell me the most expensive...

I own the big hawg, the ultra carry II, the defender, the springfield. I like them all but favor them in the order listed. They are all .45 acp, they all function flawlessly, and they all average 4" groups at 50 feet with me and my blind eyes shooting offhand. Plenty good enough to stop whatever two legged degenerate beez screwing wid you.

My Kimber has been flawless for several years.
I had a Para P-12 over ten years ago that was good, but I didn't shoot it all that much.
A good friend of mine recently bought a custom Para as part of a group buy, and they had squeezed it so tightly in a vise (I'm guessing while they were installing the sights,) that the guide-rod and plug were stuck in and we had to send it back to the factory. I love the idea of the Hawg series, but I've read about a lot of problems.
I had a Para P-12 over ten years ago that was good, but I didn't shoot it all that much.

I have a para warthog. Only problem I had was during "break in" when the recoil spring assembly broke. Para replaced it no question and it's been fine ever since. the para kote isn't very impressive but It does get holstered a lot so I expected wear on that.
Just my 2 cents. I do like Kimbers as well but the high capacity in that size and price filled my needs/desires at the time.
