I have the .45 CX4 (8000 series - 8045) and want to attach a laser sight to the rail that extends from the front of the stock.

Factory "Iron" sights are un-useable, for me, in low light and difficult in bright light. I feel a laser attached as above would be very practical in at close ranges out to 15 to 20 yards. The platform for the sight is not solid and some movement, altho very slight, will be present. At close encounters it should be an improvement over point shooting in low light or in the dark. I prefer to not use the side rail.

Any opinions or experience with a laser on the front rail, also which lasers will fit and which brands do you recommend?

Red dots are the way to go, they do not print on your target and have even faster (more intuitive) target acquisition. Plus they are still usable out past ranges when you couldn't see your laser.

I put a laser on mine

but clamped it to the barrel so it would be solid. If you don.t it won't hold its aim. I also put a red dot on top so the best of both worlds.:D

Dot Sight

I've got a dot sight on my storm (9mm) and it's NICE. Seems like cheating compared to Irons. You can't miss out to 100 yds.

+1 for Dot sight over laser. (of course getting both is always an option :)
