Hello all, I did alittel looking around and can't seen to find any on the net.

See, I looking for this shot because I'm setting out to build myself a Pellet (I guess BB) carbine in ether .177 or .22 caliber and want to use a barrel liner for the barrel. Being that you can't use a .22 cal pellet in a .22 rimfire barrel (pellet are .218-.219), F size shot would be the way to go if I chose .22 cal.

So any idea where I can get the stuff?

Also, if I can't get lead shot, do ya think one could shoot the steel shot out of a rifled barrel?

Thank you.

I don't believe you will find any Size F lead shot.

.22 skirted lead air-rifle pellets would be the way to go anyway with a rifled barrel.

Your barrel liner will be .222" - .223" groove dia.
The skirts on the .22 air-rifle pellets I have on hand measure .225".
The foreward section is about 218", or bore dia. (not groove dia)
The skirt will engrave the rifling, and even blow out to fit the bore from the air pressure if necessary.

You can't shoot steel balls in a rifled barrel unless they are undersize.

I think they are either Beeman or Crossman, but I can't say for sure. Most likely Crossman though.
I have them in a leather pellet pouch in the cabinet with the Beeman .22 air rifle and can't say for sure what tin they came out of.

If you have access to a .22 rifle and some .22 pellets, push one down the barrel with a cleaning rod and see what you see.

BTW: I used to shoot .22 pellets out of a .22-250 Rem. rifle (.224" barrel) using only the Lg. Rifle Primer for power.
They would take a pigeon off the roof of the barn at 40-50 yards easy.

My BPI catalog has it listed under buckshot if that helps any. Part# SBK1F

That sounds like fun... care to elaborate on how you seated them and such?

I'm not sure the F shot will work for you. A soft lead .220" ball won't engage the .224" rifling very well. Even if it did it's still a round ball and the spin may do crazy things to the trajectory.

As rcmodel stated, steel shot will work if they are smaller than the land diameter. I don't know what kind of size tolerance is maintained on steel and lead shot so you'd have to drop each steel shot through the barrel to gage for clearance.
