Great rifles. In the good old days you could get them at the gun show for $80 bucks, but good luck finding that....

Got one......GREAT rifle. It is very accurate, and a good rifle. I would currently put the going price at 300 (I say 300 but woudnt sell mine for that) for a excelent condition WW2 rifle. If you are looking for a shooter, any of the enfields (Not just the SMLE) are good rifles. Yes I paid 100 for mine some 15 years ago. You will not find them selling for that now. You dont see many SMLEs for sale, but you can still find the mk4 rifles and they function the the same. If you are a collector then you'll want the SMLE because you want it....in that case happy hunting, they are out there. Pictures in the link below

I prefer the peep sights of the No 4 and find them alot easier to use. It also has a heavier barrel. The No 1 rifle though is still a lovely classic and well worth getting, especially Lithgow made ones. It is a more complex rifle with more luxuries than the No 4 does and has more variation.
Interesting enough some Lee Enfields are still used professionally around the world after all these years.
You might want to look into an Ishapore 2a or 2a1. They are built on the No 1 SMLE design, but have stronger metal alloys to handle 7.62mm NATO rounds.
Either way, as soon as you get one you will end up like everyone else who collected just one. With a dozen or more rifles of all the various types.

I saw several "shooter" grade No.1 MkIII's at a gun show yesterday in the $175-200 range. Collector examples were in the mid-upper $300's.

Fantastic rifles. I have 14 .303 Enfields of various types. Fun to shoot, blast to reload.
