Let me test my understanding..

Do I have this correct? If I take a Glock 32, (357 SIG), and drop in a stock .40 S&W barrel, I will be able to use both calibers? And the magazines interchange also? I've never been a Glock guy, but I've been looking into them, more and more, and would appreciate some clarification on these points. Thanks

You can shoot either .40 or .357 Sig, whichever barrel is in the gun. I think that's what you meant to ask, right? The magazines for .40S&W and for .357 Sig, as I understand it, are identical save for the caliber marking.

The key to having a swap-caliber Glock set-up would be devising a can't-fail method for keeping straight which barrel and which ammo are in play.

Glocks generally do not require hand fitting. Kinda like an AR-15.

Truer words have never been spoken; I thought I had a foolproof system. I can state with authority that 40 cal rounds will not chamber in a 357 Sig barrel and a 357 Sig round fired in a 40 cal barrel tends to make the shooter look a might silly and amateurish.

The 40 cal in 357 Sig barrel was a dummy round demo ... the other case was not a dummy. Well, the 357 Sig round was not a dummy.

Some companies that make .40/.357SIG put both markings on the magazine, I believe Glock is the only one that does. SIG and Smith don't put both. Since the .357 is a necked down .40, the same magazine can be used for both caliber regardless of marking on the magazine.

Sig marks their mags 40/357. Glock marks them as 40 or 357, and the followers are slightly different between the two.

I can say from personal experience that the 40 mags work well with 357 but I can't speak to the opposite since I don't own a .40 Glock.

The 10mm Glock shares the same frame with the .45 ACP, not the .40 S&W and .357 Sig.

Yes, but the G20 shares the same size breech face with the 40 and 357. I have a 357 barrel for my G20 and it works fine. The magazine is a tad longer than the round but it doesn't impact function.

If you think about it, isn't it ironic that the G32 is the Glock designation for their compact 357 SIG and the 23 is their compact .40?

All you do to get one transformed into the other is swap the digit placement... or the barrels!

Yeah Bovice, there are some funny things about Glock. For example, the G17 holds 17 rounds by default.

I also think it would be interesting if the next model was a .22 LR version (even though I'm not a fan of .22s). Then the G22 would be a 40 and the G40 would be a 22.

There are factory Glock .40 magazines that hold 22 rounds, so you can have 22 in your G22. BTW, all of my dozen or so Glock .40cal mags are marked ".40" and nothing else.
