Hello,

My Les Baer wadcutter is at Baers for work and I'm having them take off their big aluminum rail attached to the frame.

I'm looking for a lightweight frame mount option to mount my Burris Fastfire 3.

The stock Baer mount, that big aluminum rail, was overkill, and I had to cut notches into it to have the Picatinny mount for the Burris to work. It took a while to cut the notches and I couldn't quite get them 100% level after trying long and hard. The sight adjustment made it work but I wasn't quite satisfied.

Most Bullseye shooters use tubes and they say it's easier to pick up the dot quickly, but it seems a big difference in weight 4-5 ounces vs 0.6 oz.

Thanks for your ideas or suggestions.

Can't really help with a frame mount, but Burris makes mounts specifically to mount the Fastfire to a pistol slide. 1911 mounts are one of them.

Have you considered just mounting it on the slide?

Thanks Greg.

I do have several Burris bases for a slide mount. I'm being stupid and should have a couple holes drilled and tapped right onto the slide (the wadcutter has no rear sight) and be done with it. I have 2 other 1911's with a Burris on the slide.

chiltech, better yet, have the rear of the slide milled down to accept the burris so you can also co witness the front site.
