With my friend I went to a Dallas gun show last Saturday.
Just looking for bargains and wanted to see the new Skyy, FN 5.7 and Kel Tec .223 pistols.

After finding some bargains on .380 bullets a fellow came by with a 50 year commemorative Iver Johnson M1 Carbine. When he said $350 I told him I'd give him $350 but that was too low a price for that rifle, it was in like new shape, and he could probably get more for it. He said he would rather just sell it to me for $350, so I bought it. Then he pulled out and handed to me two 30 round mags and a Carbine bayonet, all in like new shape.:)
A fellow walked up and asked if the Carbine was for sale. I handed it to him and said, It belongs to this man and he wants $400. No sale. Oh well I tried to get the previous owner an extra $50.:)

The "Red Tape" involved in the sale?
I handed the seller the money and he handed me the rifle.
    I love Texas gun laws.:D

Next I found and bought a new FN 5.7 pistol from a FFL dealer ($759).

    The "Red Tape" involved?
Fill out the "Yellow Sheet", which BTW is white now.
Show my Driver's and Concealed Carry Licenses. (no NICS check)
Pay for the pistol and some 5.7 ammo and carry it out the door.
    I love Texas gun laws.:D

    Same as Tennessee.

Sold one of my Garands. Cash for gun with no paperwork required.

Got a Luger with my driver's liscence, the 4470 and a instacheck.

I collect the WWI and WWII .45s, mainly, although I have others also. I have a C&R lic. which is very handy in taking direct delivery of out of state purchases and buying out of state when traveling. The lic. saves FFL transfer fee on shipped guns.

I reload for every gun I have, even Makarov and 32ACP.

I shoot a lot of store bought but hardly anything beats my reloads for quality.:)

With some calibers like Makarov I don't save much money but end up with better ammo.

I probably should have gotten a C&R years ago. I could have put it to good use.

Very nice looking rifles and 45s.:)

Texas is more respectful of our Second Amendment civil rights than many other states; it continues to surprise me, however, that it prohibits open carry. If it were legal, I'd guess lots of people would pack old Colt single actions and imitators.

I'm on both side of the open/concealed carry opinion but I would like to see a choice.
Mostly I'd rather not have it known I'm carrying but at times I would also like to open carry around town. If for no other reason than to introduce people to the fact that they can get a license to carry.

It's suprising how many people still haven't got a clue.

But about 240,000 got the clue!

    Open Carry is O.K. .......

but there's lots of folks that I don't want to know I'm armed.

I love these threads. Usually goes something like 'plopped down the money, filled out the yellow form, walked out with the gun, glad I live in a free state and not somewhere that makes me do anythign else'.

While completely not thinking that the yellow form is an infringement.

Just because you are more free, doesn't mean you are free.

But... but jefnvk, the chains aren't as tight! Does that count? :banghead:

I remember when anyone could pick out a Luger, Colt, Webly, etc for $10-$29 from a magazine, no questions asked, and it was mailed to your house.
Or a NRA member could buy a new 1911A1 from the government for $17 and it was mailed to your door.

So the Yellow Sheet isn't nearly the only present day infringement.

But at least in some states we gun owners are maintaining some rights.
