LLAMA .45 auto

Can someone help? Trying to find the year my LLAMA .45 was made, I've searched an searched but to no avail...the right side has GABILONO Y VICTORIA...above the trigger saysSTOEGER Industries an Made in Spain.
Then stamped below is the letter A an then the serial #. It has a rib top
rail, an looks an feels much like a Colt, all safety features..smooth wood grips an also on the left side by trigger an somekind of symbol, R*2 an then another symbol. It feels heavy an shoots great,. I bought it back in 93 from
a dealer an it looked several years old back then. I think it might be the model lll-A or model 1X-A, an they started making them back in 1954...?
But would like to know what year it was made...any experts on this please let me know...Thanks.

If you contact Stoeger industries they should at least be sble to tell you what year your Llama was imported.

I believe Llama itself is defunct

Are you sure about the symbol code, model and the purchase date? The Spanish Yearly Code lists the R-2 as being one of the last years of mfgr in 1999. The IX-A was mfgr'd years before your 93 purchase....
Anyway, I found my IX-A .45 acp to be one of the best .45's I've had, too bad one of my son's sort of borrowed it....

Yes I'm certain of buying in back around 1993, an I'm certain of the symbol,R*2,symbol....I'm only guessing at the model from my own research, an the gun had been used. The dealer is no longer around to ask, I've heard LLAMA, (prounounced YAMA ) either made junk or high quality....my brother has had an shot many .45 auto an when he shot mine told to me to hang onto it because it was the most accurate .45 he had ever shot!!!
When an if I find out what is an the year it was made I'll post....?

Well I got an email from Stoegers...they couldn't tell me but gave me a phone number of some sporting place in New Jersey...so I called an they said they couldn't help me with Llama guns...nothing like passing the buck....so I guess if you have a Llama made in Spain from ahwile back you'll never find out when it was made, there seems to be no one that has any records.

THis may thew symbols on trigger guard area first symbol is knights heas meansfrom spain second symbol lighted bomb showing shot twice with 30%more powder than normal shell third symbol letter then *and number D*2 means 1984 mine has F*2 guess it is an 1986 make count up from 1981being an a*2 then see what year you would have holped this helps.

Also with my experience with car vin# they dont use 1 and 0 or sometimes L get confused with I or O or 1 just food for thought holps this helps.

I to have a LLama 45 cal (on left of slide it reads Llama cal 45) (on the right side of slide it reads gabilondo y cia vitoria(espana) (on the right side above trigger it reads (stroger industries s hacksack n. j. made in spain) also on the bottom of the hand grip on the frame it says made in spain on the right side above the trigger guard it has the serial# on the left side above the trigger guard it has, 1st symbol a knights head,2nd symbol,a lighted bomb, 3rd symbol (on mine it is an F*2 which means it was made around 1986)as near as I can find out

Some of the Stoeger-imported Llamas in the 70's and 80's were good guns. Stoeger paid attention to the quality control of the guns they brought in.

I had 9mm 1911 that were an excellent gun -- heavy, well made, and accurate.

Your model is made between 1987 and 1989. They are god guns. I am a Lllama fan. My 1911 is a keeper and I challange anyone that has a 1100 Kimber or 1000 HK to match me on the range. Gun is tight as ever. 4500 rounds and still ticking.
