Looking for a parts kit....

...for a post '94 Bushmaster lower. I aquired a stripped lower after the ban and it has sat in the safe since I got it. I need all parts to complete the gun. M & A Parts has a complete kit that seems reasonable in price. Anyone able to provide a quality reference for them. I am only interested in building a mid-length gun and I see only a few have them. Suggestions? Also, is it worth building a 9MM carbine out of it, or should I just save up for MP5 clone kit from FAC? Thanks all.

www.model1sales.com and http://www.jtdistributing.com/ both sell very well priced complete kits with all sorts of options for everything. I have a AR made from a Model 1 Kit. The www.ar15.com forum has discussions about all of them, all are about equal in the end it seems.

I wouldn't make a 9mm out of it, the dimensions for the AR could be shrunk down for 9mm, so you get something more compact, like the MP5 clone or a Beretta Storm which I enjoy a lot. I would do a normal 5.56 kit, and if you want to plink cheap, get a dedicated .22 LR upper or just the bolt change out to be cheap about it.

I`ve dealt with them, NEVER AGAIN ! They started off lying about having what I wanted in stock, when they finally sent my kit, it was JUNK ! You had to BEAT the fired case out with a cleaning rod ! After more lies and sarcastic answers to my calls, they agreed to exchange my kit. The new one they sent had a bolt so out of spec that it would NOT CHAMBER A CARTRIDGE ! After calling me a liar and much arguing they finally agreed to a refund, and then "LOST" my paperwork for two months ! AND they made me eat all the shipping charges for returning their junk parts.
Model One, on the other hand, has been a pleasure to deal with. Their parts fit, and their kits run with no tweaking needed.

JT Dist has good stuff.

I've bought and built up several ARs using their parts kits with no problems.
I've also had very good experiences with Rock River lower parts kits. As for 9mm Carbines, they are a lot of fun to shoot. I own one built on a Rock River mid length upper with the barrel cut back to 14.5".

Mid length ARs are nice. The big advantage is that you aren't forced into any particular position on the rifle like you are with a standard CAR grip. They also leave more room to mount accessories such as lights and lasers and actually have room for you hand on the handguard. I went one step further and got a Dissapator. You still get the 16" barrel and all the handguard room you could ever want.

i had no troubles assembling the kit, though i thought it mildly amusing they included no instructions of their own (first ar build). i will buy from armalite again.

the upper is coming from model1, and will be here thursday. thus far, they have been ok to deal w/, but nothing extraordinary either way. they do answer emails, and are ok on the phone. once i get a chance to shoot the gun (thursday evening, i suppose), i'll be able to comment on the upper quality. they do ship pretty fast, though... my order went in friday afternoon, and they tell me it will be here thursday.
