An employee where I work was recently given some add'l responsibilites which he's not crazy about. So we're talking about this guy over the lunch table and the consensus is that he's a great worker if you leave him to work alone at the same job day after day, but he has a little problem accepting direction from his supervisor (or even his supervisors supervisor).

He's a little bit of an odd duck, as he often mumbles to himself....but all in all is a decent guy.

So our production manager (a big hunter) chimes in with a recollection from a few years back when he saw the guy side swipe a stack of lumber with a fork lift and then thinking no one saw him, leave the scene for somebody else to clean up.

PM catches up to him and tells him, "I saw you knock over that lumber and I want you to go back and pick it up", intending to help the guy do it. But mumbles wants to finish his current task and take care of it later.

Two hours later, PM is walking through again and the mess is still there, so he tells the guy "turn your machine off and go pick that mess up right now" and follows him out to make sure he does it".

So mumbles starts telling PM that "I had a dream last night that my room mate was giving me a hard time and I stabbed him with a knife"

PM (who is no pushover ) comes back at mumbles with "that's funny, because I had a dream last night too and some guy was chasing me with a knife and I shot him" :D

    ....which promptly ended the conversation!

we all fell out of our seats laughing! Knowing both of these guys, I have no doubt it's a true story.

Is Mumbles' real name Milton Waddams, by any chance?

Has he ever mentioned a red Swingline stapler or mumbled about being told he could listen to the radio at a reasonable level while he's collating?

If so, I'd be careful about that guy. :D
