Hi all,

Quiz.
In 1940 Ordnance was looking at the fall of Europe in WW2. England was all alone. Ordnance had already had a contract with Winchester to setup and run a production line at Winchester. At this point in time Ordnance wanted a massive change in production on Winchester's contract. What was this massive change in the Winchester Contract?

Hi all,
The original Winchester Contract called for only one (8 hr) shift a day on Garand rifle production. Remember, keep in mind what was going on in WW2. Ordnance wanted Wichester to go to a 3 shift (8) day to get production higher and faster for troops in the field to get the M1 Garand. Ordnance had a fit after they got Winchester's Contract changed. It seems that as of April 1942, We were at War as of Dec. 1941, Winchester was still working a one (8) shift per day??? When you read some of these files it looks like the Ordnance Dept., is about ready to attack Winchester.

Didn't they read the papers or listen to the radio? You know to get into the spirit of the whole war thing that was going on.

Yeah, they probably were ready to attack Winchester. Probably with whips while screaming "Get to work, dammit! We need rifles!" I like the quiz, but don't ever know the answers. I could probably answer easier questions like: What caliber is the M1? Or, Who invented the M1 Garand? Those are more my speed.

Thanks for the comebacks. The answers are in my books. However having you guys jump in means that you care for the quiz and the history of the M1 Garand. That's why I use the Ordnance file it helps me get the real story of the M1 Garand out there. I need your support with your comebacks.
