Is there a set standard for match grade ammunition? example: If one manufacture is selling 7.62x51 168 grn match, and a completely different manufacture is selling another 7.62x51 168 rgn match, does each one have to meet certain specifications before distributing them? Or is there no specification what so ever? I know that know matter what the data will be different. I am interested in the production of the ammunition. If there is any more info required to answer this I will go more in depth. GOD BLESS!

Retail dealers and Arms importers are free to lable anything as "match".

However if you are looking for true match ammo, that is ammunition that will shoot better than ball ammunition, look for the words "Sierra Match Bullets", "Hornady Match Bullets" in the description.

Black Hills sells true, remanufactured match ammunition. I have shot bricks of their .223 ammunition with .223 Hornady match bullets on top. The stuff is exceptionally good, out to 300 yards, if not further.

Last year the USMC rifle team was shooting a special brew of Black Hills out to 600 yards.

Federal match ammunition has been exceptionally good and consistent for decades. Many National records have been set with the stuff out to 300 yards. Federal uses absolutely new cases and typically cap it with a Sierra match bullet.

There are three fundamental things that must be inplace before you can get "match accuracy". The first is match grade barrels, the second is match grade bullets, and the third is proper bedding.

One more item..... a "Match Grade" nut holding the butt.

Without that, all else is academic.
