I have called Midway 3 times to discuss this. Sent emails detailing my issues as well. Have been told on each and every occasion that was the way they do business for "in stock" items. I only have two choices at this point; wait or cancel order and do without.

I quit dealing with Midway many years ago. When they were a small company they provided quality goods at reasonable prices and shipping rates. As they grew their shipping rates became unreasonable IMHO. Too many other sites out there now to choose from.

    Well that's a shame.

Last time I ordered powder from Midway, it said in stock. Charged my card, and a week later I got a refund and was told the powder was unavailable.

Been buying less from Midway too because of rising prices on merchandise and shipping. Made it as cheap to buy from LGS with no backorder/out of stock issues. Used both Midsouth and Grafs too on occasion.

I really appreciate all the feedback guys. At least I'm not overreacting or crazy. At least not for this response.

At least they are going to look at it, and gave an explanation for why instead of just saying "that's how we do business". Maybe they will change how they do it. Normally it would work just fine, but these are trying times for everyone.

I've dealt with Larry for about 20 years, have always been satisfied, until the last 5 months. I ordered some Hornady 150 gr. 30 cal bullets, on the web page it said, "out of stock, okay to backorder." , which I did. 2 days later I received an emails saying they would be shipped by **, **, ****. Okay, I wasn't in need of bullets that afternoon, but still chapped my backside. Finally, 5 months later, I get another email, "Product available, please advise." What? Anyway, 5 days later the UPS guy dropped 'em on the porch. I understand some of the things going on at this time aren't Larry's fault, but charging the CC as soon as the order is placed is totally wrong!

I think that a properly worded statement on the order page would satisfy most. Even better would be a different agreement with PV, but that will have to take place after this panic has slowed.

My take on this is that the entire supply chain was caught unaware in a situation similar to, but on a smaller scale than, the bank panics of the early 30's.

I'm not sure whether you're asking about ordering from Powder Valley or Midway, but I went with the former to eliminate the middleman :)

I ordered 2 8lb jugs of WST and 1lb of Ramshot Zip on February 10th and received an invoice on March 5th. Both were listed as In Stock. Looking at their website, it appears as though they're currently shipping orders invoiced on March 2nd . . . so I'm expecting to get a shipment notification within the next 2-3 days and have the powder by early next week. That works out to 6 - 6 1/2 weeks from order to delivery at the current rate. I'd guesstimate you're looking at the 2nd week of April at least.

Midsouth has better prices than Midway. I see this over and over again.

I've had that happen with Cabela's also. Just Recently with a set of scope rings...

I've never bought powder or primers from MidwayUSA because I don't like the "drop ship" thing.

I also am careful never to buy in-stock and backordered items on the same ticket because of the way they calculate shipping charges.

But I have never had a problem with anything I've bought there -- that's not quite true, I've had problems with a couple of items and they handled the returns just fine and were easy to work with. And the shipping times have been reasonable.

Check MidSouth. They won't charge until they are ready to ship.

Keep an eye on Cabela's page. If a component isn't in stock, it doesn't appear on their page and you cannot order it. While this means you have to check back often, it also means there is no backorder to satisfy.

I checked in at random on 3/6 and saw they had Tite Group in stock, as well as quite a few other Hodgdon powders. I ordered two 4lb cans, and they arrived on 3/12. I really can't complain about that. The powder was even on sale! Now I'm watching the site for primers...

FYI, I got my shipment confirmation Tuesday this week with an estimated arrival date of Monday the 25th. Pretty much as I expected :)

I checked PV right before this craziness and they had most everything in stock. I thought to myself that I don't need to spend any more money this month, and that I would make a purchase next month. Hah! Boy was I wrong, about next month anyway. Nothing but empty shelves. The powder guy at the gun shows here has next to nothing as well.

Just an update re: MidwayUSA powder. Big Brown just rolled-in with my 8 Lbs of H4831. I placed the order on 2013JAN11. Today being 2013APR03, I guess it was about 11 weeks order to arrival. I'll post another update with my Accurate 2700 arrives.
