Model 36

    Can someone give me a date of manufacture on a mod 36 SN 890xxx?

    You don't give the entire SN because it should start with a letter of the aphabet, I will guess yours starts with the letter 'J', assuming it does J100,000 started in 1972. This indicates it was made well within the last 30 years. All J frames use the same SN block (ie M60's, M34's)

    Until I saw the serial number I thought you were talking about a glock 36...

    Standard catalog says mod 36in 69 had a SN up to 786xxx then changed to J prefix

    If yours starts with a J it was made around 1981

    My J-frame has the "J" in the middle of the serial # as in 56Jxxx. The serial# is on the butt and always assumed the date of manufacture to be around 1971.

    BTW, the gun is NIB, unfired. ;)

    I too have a J-frame with the " J " in the middle of the serial #.
    "97JXXX" . I was told when I bought it , almost twenty years ago , that it was made in the late sixties .
