I just picked up an Izzy 1944r (Century import) ex-sniper in a laminated stock (no repaired cutout from the scope mount, but there are holes in the side of the receiver) for $159. I had been looking for an ex-sniper so I just kinda jumped on it. It is all matching and looks like it may never have been fired. I was just wondering if I got a decent deal, and how and why it ended up in a laminated stock instead of the original non-laminated. Are a lot of the laminated stock Mosins commonly ex-snipers, because the store I was at had two laminated stock rifles and both were ex-snipers. The other was a 1943 Izzy but was in rougher shape, but still decent.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

91/30 laminated stocks were, as I understand it, installed postwar.
