It's about time I posted a little range report on my new AR. I've had it for 3 weeks now, and have gone through 300-400 rounds so far (if only ammunition was cheaper:( ) without any kind of malfunction. I used various brands (Magtech, Prvi, S&B, Wolf, Barnaul...) which all worked fine, except for the Barnaul stuff. It worked, but there was no grouping to speak of. And I had a few far more skilled shooters try it out for me in AR and nobody managed to shoot anything resembling a grouping with that brand.:barf:

I only had one little issue with the rifle. Being new to rifles and AR-15s in particular I didn't notice that the bolt carrier went about 2-3 centimeters too far when I locked the bolt back, making it impossible to chamber a new round by hitting the bolt catch. Back at the gun shop the we found out it had an M16 length buffer tube spring instead of the shorter one, problem solved :D

Both the accuracy and reliability of the rifle are excellent so far. I really don't have much experience with rifles yet, but I managed to shoot a few acceptable gourps up to 100m.

I'm glad I went with the 14.5" version, I love the handiness of that particular model.

The rifle is a Dlask Arms model DAR701, BTW ;)

Today I finally got my new magazines. Licensed copies of the Magpul PMags, made by a German company (it's quite impossible to get 30 round mags from the United States right now, so they make it themselves now :D)

I'll post a couple of pictures of the rifle (note to moderators: if they take too much bandwidth, I can also post the in a seperate thread or smaller solution)

Nice rifles! I like the FAL too.

I love pics of new AR15s when they are all clean and simple, before the bolt-on madness starts for some people. :)

I was always dubious about the differences between the shorter barrels and a 16" barrel. However, I recently put together a 14.5" superlight barreled carbine (with a Phantom suppressor permanently attached to give me a US legal 16 1/4" on the nose). I was surprised to see how much handier it made that carbine feel.

Yes, it's not much but somehow you just notice the difference. I handled several length ARs and a few SIG 550/551 rifles, but the 14.5" AR just felt right :)
