Need opinion / answer on Ruger MK III

I have a question about a Ruger Mark III. I am interested in purchasing a special edition (Sports South) KMKIII6 22LR 6 FS SS. Basically it is a standard Ruger with the tapered barrel, fixed sights, 6 inch barrel in Stainless Steel. My question is.. Can this gun be converted over to adjustable sights? Is the sight key way the same size...does the band on the end of the barrel remove to place an (higher blade) adjustable type front sight in it's place?
