I actually bought this Crusader Compact by High Standard the Saturday after Thanksgiving but didn't get a chance to take it shooting until this past Saturday. The gun came with only one magazine made by ACT in Italy.

I didn't have a lot of ammo so I only put 86 rounds through it but no jams or any problems at all for those 86. I rented a full size Kimber a couple months back that jammed twice on 50 rounds (may have been a bad magazine, don't know.) I'll be getting more ammo in soon though so I'll do more reliability testing. The magazines used were the factory magazine and Wilson Combat Compact 7rd magazines. I made sure to test them all equally.

On accuracy, I noticed it was shooting about 5 inches low at 7 yards. I'm guessing the sights were regulated for 185gr or 200gr loads, instead of the 230gr I was shooting. Since I didn't have any of the lighter loads I couldn't test that theory. The windage was dead on and once I got a feel for how low it was shooting I could compensate pretty easily. Groups weren't too bad, averaging about 2 inches shooting offhand. Not bad for the first time shooting it and only having put 50 rounds through any 1911 before this one. I am thinking about getting a set of replacement sights, adjustable and probably fiber optic or tritium.

The ammo I used was CCI Blazer Brass 230gr FMJ bought at Wal-mart for $15 for a 50 round box . I was shocked to see .45 ACP for only $15 in good brass cases. I picked up my brass and saw no defects so I kept it in anticipation of my purchase of reloading equipment.

Overall, I enjoyed shooting my new little gun and I can't wait for my ammo to arrive. Once I get some reloading gear, I'll be even happier. Here's a picture.

Could bullet weight have 5" of difference at 21'?[IMG] I cannot believe that is the case.

Yeah, now that you mention it that does seem strange. Some quick math shows that to achieve a 5in drop over 7 yards would mean the bullet is only traveling at 132fps. Company advertises 830fps with that ammo. So I have some work to do on the sights. But actually another thought. I was shooting on the rifle side of the range and while you can move the targets as close as 7 yards the shooting area is elevated meaning I was shooting down at the target by a little bit. Maybe that could do it too.
