Hi all. I just got a sistema 45. From the serial number looks like the date of manufacture is 1952. Now, given the overall condition I think I got a decent deal at $400, but the barrel looks pretty worn. There still is some rifling probably 2/3 of the way down the barrel. My question is should I be looking at getting a new barrel, and if so how big of a project is that. Keep in mind this is a shooter, not for competition and obviously not a show piece. Thanks

Assuming its mil-spec shouldnt take more than 1-2 minutes to swap the barrel.

If the serial number on the barrel matches the ones on the slide and frame, don't throw it away.

Check the accuracy and functioning, and if there's a problem a GI spec barrel should fix it.

I had one that had the same numbers on the barrel as the slide and frame, but in the wrong order. It wasn't original to the gun and accuracy was terrible. Hitting the ground was tough with that thing. A Wilson match barrel and a few tweaks did the trick.
