On Friday I found a Browning A5 Light 12, Made in Japan, Invector choked barrel, in what appears to be unfired condition. I did alot of reasearch this weekend, and every night I went to be wanting that gun more and more. Just in case, I called the shop yesterday to insure that they were closed for the holiday, and in fact they were. I went in today and picked it up!

It is so beautiful. The highly polished wood is nice and dark with some wonderful, dark tiger striping. There are some handling/storage marks in the wood, about 4 little scratches and gouges. Totally acceptable to me in a used gun. It still appears to be unfired as I can not find any powder residue, or brass scratches inside the receive or outside near the ejection port. It was carried into the field it seems, because there was a tinge of dried mud in the buttstock pad screw slot and a single grass seed in the vent rib. I constantly have to clean under the ribs of my other guns, because of the grass seeds getting caught in the rib from carrying them during an early season hunt.

It came with three Invector chokes and a wrench. No box. I am just sitting here stroking it, lightly oiling the exterior and checking the fit. It seems to good to be true.

Only quibble, I would like to change the dull steel front bead for a bright brass bead in the future ... how is that for nitpicking pefection.

Picts and range report to be posted ASAP, need new batteries for digital camera.

Congrats. Sounds like a very nice shotgun. Now, go shoot it until it feels like a body part.....

A-5s are top grade shotguns. Enjoy!!
