Often you see for sale a rifle with non matching serial numbered bolt to the receiver for sale.I was just reading on Peruvian mausers where they use to store the bolts seperate from the rifle at the armory so a all matching numbered Peruvian is therefore hard to find.

Does mixing a bolt from another rifle make the headspace questionable?Does a non matching bolt number to rifle make it dangerous to shoot and for those sellers selling a non matching rifle who say they never fired the rifle how do you know yo aren't getting a rifle that can't be fired?

    1 Possibly, possibly not.

3 You dont, it behooves YOU to have the headspace checked EVEN if the seller says its good.

PS Use a FIELD guage to check old mil-surps, not a NO-GO.
