I bought this old SxS in 1971 at a discount store's close out. It was a beautiful gun when I bought it, all hand checkered European walnut stock, light engraving on the breach of the barrel and the color case hardened frame. It's a box lock, imported by FIE of Florida at the time. It's inscribed "Felix Sarasqueta y Cia", a Spanish maker who I believe sold out, at any rate is now defunct.
Anyone got anything similar? Anyone know any history on this maker? I bought the gun for waterfowl, 28" barrels modified and full choked. It's an extractor gun, double triggers that used to have a nice gold plate. Even the trigger guard had engraving on it. It's a light gun and kicks like heck, but I've killed a lot of ducks and geese and one turkey with it. It's an old friend, but it's main duty now days is out in my shop as a defensive gun when I'm working out there. It's got some rust here and there, did many years duty in the salt marshes banging around in boats and such. The fore-stock split and I could never find a suitable replacement, so I drilled a hole in it, glued a dowel rod in it, sanded and refinished it. Later, I taped it with camo tape and decided to leave it on the fore-stock since it ain't beautiful anymore. Shame to beat up a pretty gun, but it wasn't that expensive and I bought it to use, after all.
