PA gun registration

I am really starting to dislike living in PA. Perhaps it's time to move somewhere else.

What is going on with that? I am suprised that on here and on pafoa.org I cannot find any information on what stage that is in. It was introduced and no other info has been available.

PA is quickly turning into NJ. The taxes are already the same, all we need now are the gun laws.

Dear folks in PA,

If you don't wake up the majority of gun owners and get active in opposing nonsense legislation like this then Pa is going to be Sarah Brady's NEW back yard.

Sarah Brady is not doing so well here in Md lately and I hear she's looking for a new home full of sleepy gun owners that don't mind having their rights taken from them while they snooze.

Here is the last posted info.

HB 760 By Representatives CRUZ, YOUNGBLOOD, PARKER and CURRY.

An Act relating to firearm registration; providing for duties of the Pennsylvania State Police; and imposing penalties.

Referred to JUDICIARY, March 19, 2007

Common PA guys ya asleep or something?????

that's what PA gets for voting DEM.

Unfortunatly Philly and Pittsburgh seem to override the rest of the state these days. Those of us in rural PA are getting real tired of getting taken for a ride by the cities and what they think is best for us. :fire:

Ain't that the truth.

Well, I've drafted a letter to my Representative, expressing my extreme displeasure at this proposal, and doing the usual urging of opposition with extreme vehemence. It goes in the mail today. An email will go out as well.

Here's the thing, many of these bills get introduced EVERY session. We just had a HUGE committee of the whole on gun violence (gun control) where just about every proposal was killed before getting a full vote. The Dems from PHilly are always going to go after our guns. The only difference now is that they Democratic party has a few more votes...

I still see most, if not all of these measures going down the tubes.

The Drew: that is also true, but it never hurts to make your positions clear. I'm pretty sure most of this garbage will be circular-filed also, but as the old parable goes, "Trust in Allah, but tie your camel."

Drew - You are correct, most new proposals get shot down.
Having said that, we can't become complancent thinking those new proposals will always be shot down. I live in the Philly suburbs, and my area always votes Dem :barf: . It's like a cancer - Philly is the tumor, and now the surrounding areas have it also. Pro gun voters in the middle of the State have to make sure they all get out to vote. It's more important each year as more and more Democrat Philadelphians move out of the city and into the Burbs.

Hello

Thanks,
I just fired off some emails to my legislators and to the jack asses that sponsored the bill. Also making some phone calls.
It would be one thing, if these socialists truely believed getting rid of guns will create utopia, but most just want to see our rights stripped away, starting with the most important right. Self defense. Meanwhile, they are free to have weapons because they are special.

Every PA gunowner should know about this bill and any other. Please start shouting. Start with your district lawmakers.

I did get a response to an email to my local representative. It's shown below:

"Dear Rumble,

Thank you very much for taking the time to contact me with regard to
your opposition to HB 760 - your concerns are much appreciated.

Please know that, as an NRA member and as a legislator, I am absolutely
against HB 760 and will certainly be voting against the bill should it
ever come before the House of Representative for a vote.

There is no reason to punish good, law-abiding citizens for the actions
of criminals.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me about this very
important issue.

Best Regards,
Dave Reed"

Write your district house reps. Mine (Mike Carrol a Democrat) actually emailed me back saying he opposes the bill and doesn't think it will make it out of the house.

Check the link in my sig line. That site has a forum for PA residents and contains a lot good stuff related to this. Here's the legal PA forum there: http://www.pafoa.org/forum/pennsylvania-10/

Do what I did. Print the bill, alone with HR1022 (assault weapons ban) and take them to your local single owner gun shops and show them to the owners--you'd be surprised how many people still don't know about these bills, and the word is just not getting out as it should. The news won't report it until it's too late for us. Remember to take some envelopes addressed to your local state house rep, senator, and federal house rep. When I did this, the shop owner was very appreciative and distributed them to anyone who would listen and opposed these bills.

All that said, are you registered to vote? Remember voting is what undid the damage Clinton did to us, albeit it took years. Are you a member of the NRA and/or GOA? The bigger those organizations get, the more politicians will have to listen. I guarantee you if every gun owner was a member, no politician would dare touch the 2'nd Ammendment.

Thats how they do it in Maryland. There is power in the internet.

Ha!

Yeah, the 2nd amendment worked really well for the rest of the country.

Its not questioning the right of the people, its just regulating it, you know, to make it safer. You aren't anti-safety, are you?

We do need to spread this as much as we can. I grew up in PA (live in TX now) and as soon as I heard about this I called all my relatives and friends there that own guns (basically all of them). Not one of them had heard of this legislation. Those of us who know please make sure you get the word out to friends/family in that state so that they know their rights are under attack. If they get PA they'll use it as a springboard for the next state they want and eventually we'll all be under fire (pun not intended).
