Greetings,

I just recieved a Para Ord GI Expert 1911. I am left handed and need to get an ambi thumb saftey. I was looking at purchasing a Wilson Combat ambi saftey. If any experienced 1911 tuners can chime in, it would greatly be appreciated.

I got my gi expert a week ago and I am having second doubts about it. The gun shoots more accurate than me but I had a problem. The slide stop was actually sliding out of the frame after it cycled the last round. this prevented the slide from locking open after firing the last round. After many hours of troubleshooting I borrowed a shooting buddies slide stop from his colt 1911 and it fixed the problem. It appeared that the one that came with the gun may have been casted out of a softer metal ans was too small. I could actallypuse it on the right side and it would push in a little.

Thank you for the information. Yes, this handgun was a gift and I really like it. I haven't had time to shoot it yet but the trigger feels nice. Not as nice as a friends Kimber but still a 1911 sweet trigger. I think I am just going to go through with it and purchase the Wilson Combat ambi saftey.

I would Wilson Combat is a great source, from what I hear and have read myself. I have a GI Expert and all I did was get new grips for it and it shoots like a dream, probably my favorite gun to just shoot with :)
