I've been seeing some interesting promos for some quiz show hosted by Drew Carey on CBS. One of the questions asked the contestants on the promo is:

What is the percentage of Americans who say they have fired a gun?

Answer: 67% :what::cool:

We tend to think of ourselves as a minority, and I'm sure the percentage who own guns is quite a bit smaller, but there are more shooters out there than we may realize. :cool:

We should make that a "Caption this picture" contest
 
I don't know where they get their numbers but I'd be the real % is slightly higher. Not too sure those who can't legelly own answered that question. I'd put it closer to 75-80%
 
that statistic is probaly counting people in the military and people who use airsoft/paintball guns.

(and why do they call them airSOFT? those lil plastic balls sting like hell even out of a spring powered pistol!)

The caption should be

"Hey! This is kinda fun!"

As far as the percentage, I'd say it would have to be pretty high. I know most of my family has, but strangely enough I don't think my mom has...I'll fix that on her next visit!
 
I really wouldn't put much stock in info from this show. What EXACTLY was the question they asked? HOW was it asked?
I have done interviews/surveys in past. I could skew/alter info just by WAY I asked question. (we were not allowed to change a single word but were required to read all questions) (for one)
Others you could figure out what result they wanted by way questions worded.
If they asked older people many had firearms training in school/military/etc. If you ask rural folks same thing. (higher percentage)
You ask folks living in DC (better neighborhoods) and exclude those who a firearm is part of job lower percentage.
Allow BB gun/paintball/dart/pellet it goes up. Mandate only if they fired a real gun more then 10x it goes down.
 
All in my family has. Changed their minds about it except for one. Two nuetrals changed, one super left is the type that will deficate in their trousers when a gun is set down near them even though they were taught the safe operation and use of one.
