What would y'all get?
The one that's not a Kimber *stirs the pot* :D

Seriously though, I'm sure lots of folks have Kimbers that have zero issues, but IMHO there are better 1911s for the money.

Between the two, I would get the Sig personally. You'll get different answers though.

Edit to add: I don't want the Kimber folks coming down from the mountains on me, I guess I should add that the folks that get good ones (which is the vast majority) really like theirs. I just have seen to many boo-boos that should have never left the factory, many on guns that are supposedly "custom shop" guns...

I'm looking to get a premium autoloader. My caliber choices are 9mm Luger & .45ACP, and my current considerations are the Sig P226 Navy, or the Kimber 1911 Desert Warrior. What would y'all get?

I'm with you, I would say those are great choices. I love my Kimber warrior and my P-226 blackwater which are for the most part the same guns you are looking at.

i'd avoid the Kimber too... if you're really looking for a premium gun without going high end production. the best bang for the buck in the 1911 market is a Dan Wesson

alot of folks like the 226 Navy, but it's really just an anchor etched on a regular 226...and serveral of them have rough triggers. one of the best Sig 226 models is the 226ST in 9mm but they're hard to find. a 226 Elite is more common and you gain a beavertail and their Short Reset Trigger. if you'd prefer a SAO pistol, a premium 226 would be the X-5 which is awesome...you can save some money by getting the Competition instead of the L-1

I own the Sig p226 in both 9mm and .40 (with the drop in .357 Sig barrel), both have been 100% reliable and very accurate. The Kimbers are very pretty pistols, but if I had to depend on one or the other I would always choose the Sig.

STI Trojan & Dan Wesson IMHO are better guns than the Kimber. you can also get these in 9mm. 9mm 1911's are fun to shoot.

What Ala Dan said.

There is no way you can understand the Les Baer thing . . . until you get one. You can find excellent used ones for $1,400-$1,500, new ones around $1,600.

I recently picked up a NIB Les Baer for $1568.00 delivered. You cannot compare a Les Baer to a Kimber (I have a superb Kimber) or a Dan Wesson.

Apples to Tomatoes.

where's the HK love here? :D

budsgunshop has a regular p226 on sale - CPO edition for like $530ish.

premium autoloader to me means HK or sig :D They tell me it's #1 and #2 on reliability.. but who knows.. not like i'm gonna roll'em around in the mud

HK, Sig, or one of these 1911s:

Dan Wesson
Colt
Springfield Armory
Les Baer
Ed Brown

Wilson Combat
Nighthawk
Full Custom

I would get the Sig, just for the edge in reliability. (I've owned more than one of both brands, Sigs are great, I will never buy another Kimber product)

I've got a Springfield Armory Trophy Match 1911 and love it. Para Ordnance also makes a great 1911

One call to Kimber customer service would make choose any other handgun, premium or otherwise... I'll never own another!

A Yost, et al. reworked Browning HiPower would seem to meet the true definition of a premium autoloader. :)

What's your definition of premium? For me neither Kimber or Sig fall into the "premium" category. Both are very good weapons, but I would opt for an STI. They make some very fine 1911s. If you want to go a step further you can look at some true custom 1911s from SVI, Les Baer, etc.
