I have used Bullseye and WW231/HP-38 for both 9mm and 45ACP. I am currently using Bullseye, but only because the game I shoot favors a heavy bullet and a fast powder has benefical effects on recoil.

I always use published data, never a "friend told me once".

Sounds like the 4.9 to 5.3 range for the 45 is best. I am paying attention to published data. The guy that told me the load must have not been thinking. So, before I even started to load I read a lot.

Sounds like bullseye and winchester are some good powders to use.

The only TRUSTABLE sources are the manuals & bullet & powder mfgs websites.
Even then stop & think.
If it doesn't sound right there could be a typo.
