Hi all, I have a rather new 700, always before I could get good trigger pull using the 3 screws, I have always set sear adjustment at release then 1/2 turn for engagement. This Remington has a lot of rough creep even with this sear engagement- how hard is it to take trigger apart and hone the internal sear ?? are the parts holding trigger together pins or rivets ??
Any help would be appreciated, ps I'm 70 worked all my life as mechanic and also worked in gun shop for awhile so I'm good with tools and careful.

there is some good instruction on rem 700 triggers at www.baitshopboyz.com/forum scroll down to the archive section, and then poke around for the rem 700 trigger thread. there is some detail on how to do it there. doesn't appear to be difficult at all to pull apart and fix, but haven't tried it myself. good luck.

I paid $45 to a gunsmith and now have a very sweet trigger on my 700. :)

I've disassembled a couple of Remington 700 triggers, with no ill effects, just using a punch and hammer. However, I've run across several 700 triggers with defective trigger springs. (The spring in the channel with the lower front screw) You might check to see if the spring can move easily in the channel before you disassemble the trigger.

Also recommend lighter fluid for cleaning out trigger assembly. 1/2 turn might be a little too much engagement.
